Are we in a crisis?

“We are not in a crisis because we can still service our debt” is a relic of Thabo Mbeki/Trevor Manuel/Tito Mboweni fiscal discipline thinking. When you look closer, all the politicians agree with this. They just have different ways of expressing their agreement.

We are definitely in a crisis and we must treat it as such. These MPs are simply too comfortable where they are and don't want to rock the boat.

Most of these people think South Africans living in poverty are an academic exercise, lying about realities of almost half the population just to impress the markets & look good when situation is bad is the worst thing these people can do esp to those who have nothing to turn to.

The ANC will always downplay everything that will make majority voters question the economic policy and failures of government to implement plans to improve socioeconomic conditions of previously marginalised people. The GNU a neoliberal agenda to support corporate interests

Im glad you said "the suffering of South Africans is being downplayed" Almost every week a massive amount of illegal immigrants are being caught working while South Africans sit at home. We are definitely in a CRISIS

If that is their only measure of success, then they have already failed the country.
