Are workers at HMO Wethersfield actively making false accusations? With the arrest of Holly England for allegedly inciting racial hatred on two separate occasions, we must ask questions on the integrity of those working at this HMO. Henry Nowak was 18 - a kind and hard-working student with his life ahead of him. His murder – at the hands of Vickrum Digwa - was a horrifying and evil act. Digwa murdered Henry and then lied about him, as he lay dying - falsely accusing him of racism. The Nowak family deserve answers about what happened on that night, particularly in the police response. Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) will be equipped with the resources, authority and independence it needs to conduct a full, fearless and transparent investigation. They must find the truth and ensure, if necessary, that there are consequences. It is also clear that we must take action to tackle the daily tragedy of knife crime. Progress has been made, with knife crime now falling, but we must go further. That is why I have recently published this Government's Halving Knife Crime Plan. We must be clear about who is responsible for this crime. The punishment must be reserved for those who are responsible for this evil act. We do not believe in collective punishment in this country. Instead, we stand together against an act of pure evil. We condemn those who committed this heinous crime. Not all those who share their faith or ethnicity. A final note. With further sentencing and possible charges pending, and misinformation already circulating, we must be cautious in what we say about this case so proceedings are not placed at risk. Those responsible must be brought to justice.

Statement Update 29 January 2026 On Monday morning, Holly was arrested at her home in front of her children. She was taken to the police station and later released on bail. We are not permitted to discuss the bail conditions. Due to legal reasons following this arrest, Holly and Emma made the decision to move the planned demonstrations for this coming Saturday. Holly has now been contacted by the police and informed that her bail conditions have been brought forward. She has been instructed to attend Chelmsford Police Station on Monday 2nd at 1pm, where custody will be taken. Police have advised her to arrange childcare just in case she is not released later that afternoon, stating there is another case to be addressed. This situation is deeply distressing. Holly is already traumatised after being handcuffed in front of her children. She is not sleeping and is experiencing nightmares. Her daughter is extremely anxious and worried that her mum is going to be taken away again. With high-profile individuals attending events across Essex this weekend, we also cannot ignore the increased safety risks. We are not prepared to put our supporters, families, or ourselves in danger under the current circumstances. Because of this, we have made the very difficult decision to cancel both the Wethersfield and Chelmsford demonstrations scheduled for Saturday 31st January. If individuals still wish to gather independently in these areas to raise awareness, that is entirely their own decision. However, as organisers, we will not be attending or organising any demonstrations on that day. We are absolutely devastated to have to cancel these events. We are only three months old as a team and have already achieved so much together. This decision has not been taken lightly, but the wellbeing and safety of our families must come first. We are deeply disappointed in the way this situation has been handled. A mother has been treated in a manner that has caused significant trauma to both her and her children, while serious criminality continues to impact our streets daily. We will be taking a short pause and will update everyone after the police meeting on Monday. That said, we will still be coming together informally on Saturday. If anyone would like to join us, we will be meeting at The Bootmaker in Chelmsford at 3pm for drinks. It is child- and animal-friendly, and you are more than welcome to come along. Holly England
