#WATCH | Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala: On the Supreme Court staying UGC's Equity Regulations, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi says, "I welcome this judgment because the UGC guidelines are highly discriminatory. To address discrimination, they were bringing more discrimination to campuses, and there are three points I have continued to raise, which even the Supreme Court has validated. The concerns that I was expressing with regard to the penalty clause. What do we do with regard to that, in terms of the ability for everybody who is on the campus, who faces some kind of discrimination? They should be able to go to the equity committee to address it. Unfortunately, that was not doing that. It was only giving a platform to SC, ST, and OBCs to be able to do that, while the general caste students were left out in the cold, and they did not have that particular pathway. Equity squads, through the implicit and explicit nature of discrimination, could take a call. Implicit could mean anything as far as the equity squad is concerned. Would it be through words, through actions, or through some perceptions or preconceived mindset about discrimination? Those were the things which I was speaking about. The Supreme Court has put a stay on it. I welcome it, and I hope the Government of India withdraws this particular guideline and ensures that any guideline that comes into place to address discrimination is not discriminatory in its nature."

The very first basic flaw that I see is in the definition that has been written for caste-based discrimination. In the new clause that has been added, they have mentioned SCs, STs, and OBCs as victims. But a general-caste boy or girl can also be a victim. So the biggest problem I see in it is this: Alokit Tripathi, PHD Student from DU ( General) This is an uncalled-for regulation that the UGC has issued. VIDEO | The Supreme Court has set aside discriminatory provisions of prison manuals of some states while deprecating the practice of caste-based discrimination, distribution of work and segregation of prisoners in separate wards as per their castes. Here's what advocate Disha Wadekar said: "The judgment has struck down very discriminatory provisions that were there in the prison manual. The irony is fucking unbelievable! The Lower Caste Dalits are demanding 'Sub-Categorisation in Reservations' because they believe the Upper Caste Dalits within the SC category are snatching their share of Quota. So the Upper Caste Dalit lady says: "There is no discrimination here. If you work hard, compete on merit, you will earn your share of the seat, regardless of Caste" DO YOU SEE THE FUCKING HYPOCRISY? That's exactly what GCs have been saying for decades: Caste doesn't matter; Hardwork and merit do. But apparently "Merit" becomes a beautiful concept the moment the competition is within the Reserved Category. You couldn't write a better parody of the entire reservation debate if you tried.
