Dude,I still remember my home landline too🤣🤣

I want to go back to this SOOOO BAD!!!

Hell, I'm almost this old? 😆

Yes. Then we upgraded to the ones with push buttons and thought we were living! 😎

Yes. I thought the transition to push button phones in the mid 70s was Mission Impossible tech 🤣

Yes, darn it! And we were on a party line. Normal rural MS when I was growing up. 🤣

My Nonna had one in the kitchen on the wall! 🥹

Yes and accessorized with Partylines!

When i first showed my son a rotary, he stuck his finger in the hole, pushed hard and then looked at me to see if he was doing it right.

Our number had a zero in it. You had to wait longer for the dial to come back around! 🤣

Slamming the phone down hard in its cradle was fun, but it isn’t something you would want to do these days! 💥🔔😅

@mccurry_li90015 I remember grandma with 100 foot of cord!… 🤦♂️

I used my grandparent's phone, you picked up the receiver and asked the operator to connect you. My Dad had a business in that town, his phone number was 6.

Yep!

One Ringy dingy, two Ringy dingy’s … 😉

Sure did and it was on the wall in the kitchen, with a long cord we could stretch to a closet and sit in there and talk .

Yup

I’ll go you one better….. ours was made of steel!

@ugaalf1 I installed them and pay phones for Ohio Bell. Base 500 model dial phone. Western electric. I have seen heat melt the covers off and they still worked.

I sure do.

I AM THAT OLD

@hufnagel_Cowboy Yep. We were even on a party line.

@txfixitman357 Yes

Yep, only 5 numbers and you could pick up any pay phone, dial zero and say: “Operator, get me the Police” and you would be connected. Same with Fire or Ambulance. Phone booth too.. with a phonebook!

Yep. Had one that color as well

Did people eavesdrop phone conversations during rotary phone era? I guess you just had to stand next to the person to hear. This reminds me of the library computer system where I usually go to check yahoo finance believing my website visit will be undisturbed and unmanipulated. Oh, was I wrong but not surprised; it was inevitable change to happen. Diamond Bar library in city of Diamond Bar, LA county made changes to their computer systems beginning of this year 2026: user of their computer will now have to ask a library staff to unlock yahoo finance quote page - user can still read finance news but not specific news pertaining to a quote ticker symbol because this feature is the one that has been locked. I speak only for my library card number; not certain if the same change is true to other library card numbers. In the other library that I usually go, nothing has changed. Unlike in the Diamond Bar library, this library has way more computers and is more spacious such that anyone who wants to snoop on your computer screen can easily watch from a distance. Not so in the Diamond Bar library because the space is so compact: 4 computers facing the wall, 4 computers in both sides facing each other; always I use the side where my back faces the back of the user of the computer facing the wall for better privacy - the computers on the other side face 5 study tables which are usually occupied by library users. If anyone wanted to snoop on my computer screen, the individual literally has to stand behind me and the computer. There is however a security camera dedicated over the computer area. My library visits are scant; only started during pandemic to borrow books, once in a while I use their computer but not every visit. In the beginning, their computer were not numbered - no visible number card was placed on top of the computer. As I keep coming back and use their computer every visit, each computer has been assigned number card atop the computer monitor through today with additional changes this year. Since my streaming quote platform had been hacked and manipulated, I started to doubt the accuracy of the yahoo finance quote; hence my access of finance yahoo in a library computer.

That's the 2500 set. 😁

Yes. It was hanging in the Kitchen and had a 12 foot long cord so Mom could cook and talk on the phone at the same time.

@BIGG69276626 Yes. My back hurts. Thanks for the reminder

WE6 1212 was the time. Good evening at the tone the time will be 12 o’clock and 20 seconds beep. Haha 😂 its was a slow process to call anyone. Like a sloth phone 📞

Yes I did use this 😁

🙋♀️

Yeppers. Party line old. Carbon paper old. Shorthand old. No voicemail old!

Trying to sneak calls at night that had a lot of 7, 8, 9 and 0 was torture.

Yeah ... But we also had high tech
