You manage a railroad company, buy trains, set schedules, connect towns, build infrastructure, and watch your railway network (and empire) grow. The attention to historical detail only later caught my eye. The steam engine trains of the early era, the electrical trains that came later, the wonderful pixel-style graphics, and the game's pace all blended into a beautiful game. The end of fiscal year rating was pretty funny, with the different "titles" that were bestowed on you - from Hobo to President of the United States - depending on how well you performed.
