Cape Verde lost, but they left the tournament with their heads held high. From the first whistle to the final whistle, I felt the refereeing decisions consistently went against them. In my view, Cape Verde played better football than Argentina for large parts of the match, yet crucial calls didn't seem to go their way. Regardless of the result, I'm proud of how far African football has come. Teams from the continent are becoming more competitive and proving they can stand toe-to-toe with the world's best. If officiating is consistently fair and unbiased, I believe it's only a matter of time before an African nation lifts the FIFA World Cup trophy.
