@ArianFoster I think he’s 100% correct but I also feel like QBs shouldn’t get an interception when the ball bounces off of receivers hands and gets picked off, that should be the receivers interception.

@ArianFoster quarterback is a cerebral position. It’s not just about how long you can chuck it down the field, finding an open guy on a quick pass who has a lot of space in front of him can also be a great decision.

There are no receiving yards at all without a QB throwing the ball. There are also no receiving yards without a ball catcher. This means they are both responsible for all yardage. Also the Receiver is not always soley responsible for YAC, the QB can do multiple things that helped get that YAC, like pump fakes, throwing the WR open, using his eyes to throw of defenses, play action, window throws, etc. There is no way to measure the influences separately outside of maybe the WR breaking a tackle himself.

I get what he’s saying, but also the QB hitting a WR at the right time to allow him to get more yards is very important in those YAC. Of course, there’s going to be screens where yeah it might not make all the sense for the QB to get the credit, but he still got the ball to the player to make the play. Can’t change this.

@ArianFoster The QB isn't mainly responsible for the YAC but there is no YAC without the QB. If the ball is too high or too low or behind the receiver and they have to dive or fall to catch it there's no chance for YAC. If it's perfectly placed in stride on target that sets the WR up

Receiver doesn't get the chance without the dot.. They record a 70 yard bomb to the end-zone for the receiver yards too... If you're going to be fair the receiver didn't throw the ball that far.. so he shouldn't get those yards by his logic. Look, JSN had 1793 receiving yards this season, lead the league, he had 529 yac.. if you take away the air yards he loses 1264 yards.. Then Puka Nakua is the new leader with 678 yac.. But he doesn't want to take the yards from the receiver does he? Ole Cam Newton asxx logic..

@ArianFoster In general, an offense moves the ball by passing or running. The passer, runner, and receiver are credited with those offensive yards. Don’t overcomplicate that basic formula. In modern football, there are plenty of advanced statistics if you want a more detailed breakdown.
