Big news at the new Optimus 10m/y factory construction site today! The 1st steel structure has been erected & as expected the second phase of land reclamation is underway. This will allow this new factory to grow to nearly the same length as the main Giga Texas factory, although it will be a few hundred feet (~50 - 70 m) narrower. If you did not realize the massive size of this new factory, this should tell you all you need to know! A lot of steel beams & columns were being delivered to the site today and using the new staging yard in the nearby “lone tree” field. Check out this short clip showing the expansion, the steel structure & more of the foundation work!

Greg Brockman says OpenAI pointed Astra at its own systems until it ran out of vulnerabilities to find: "We took 25% of our production engineers and said, 'Sorry, all your projects are on hold. You are now defending. You are now up-leveling our security architecture. You're going to use the models to find all the holes.' And we found a number of serious issues, and we fixed them." "We found some new problems, but eventually it saturated. We basically have found, to our knowledge, all of the P0s, all of the critical problems that Astra is smart enough to find. And of course, there will be a new model, there will be a new round." "You want to be in this tight loop of new cyber capability drops, you deploy it against your systems, you find the new holes, and ideally, you've managed to automate this, what we call defense factory. That's what we're building internally." "There are ideas, for example, formally verifying all of software, that are possible with AI." Greg Brockman benahorowitz.eth

Construction is a colossal logistics problem: getting the right people, materials, and information to the right place at the right time. To industrialize construction, this paradox must be overcome. We overcame it by inventing a new type of manufacturing that allows for localization; we call it a Mobile Micro-Factory (MMF). We need to put up a lot of them really fast to make a dent in the supply-and-demand gap (millions of homes, all types of homes). So, we made a factory that makes factories. We call it the PAPA factory. We plan to open 5-7 of them across different geographies, de-risking supply chains and bringing production closer to demand. Each PAPA factory can make 5 MMFs per year. Every new “factory that builds factories” multiplies downstream production capacity. This all sounds crazy; however, it’s a highly orchestrated path to putting scale front and center. Tackling the housing crisis means you need to build a lot of homes: quicker, cheaper, and better.

Ike, Spike and Fritz agree try to figure out what the new version of Aaron Nola will have to be. "It seems like the new Aaron Nola is he gets to the 5th inning and he's so tired that everything diminishes and falls apart. And if that's true there has to be a better plan to get him out of the game quicker."

Lizet cats pre-order update Good news. The first batch (of Sundara, the tigress) is being made at the new factory, where 萬獸天工 is keeping a close eye on the production process. That process will be a little slower than anticipated but in the interest of getting this made as good as possible we prefer to give the factory a little more time. The cats will be delivered. The entire project is fully funded, so no-one needs to worry that you won't be receiving your squeaky cats. This has been a little bit of a journey, and once more we'd like to thank all of you who placed pre-orders and stayed on board for over a year now. ❤️

"It's saving on the environment... We're not using fossil fuels." Will you be signing up for Amazon's new drone delivery service, which Amazon claims "will create new jobs", and "help to reduce the impact of climate change on future generations"? Who exactly will this "create new jobs" for? And what about the fossil fuels that will be used to generate the electricity to charge those rechargeable batteries? 🙄

This is how brand-new cars are transported from a factory in Stuttgart, Germany. It got me thinking. Before you become too pompous about owning just one car, remember that someone actually owns the factory that produces millions of them. That should be our ambition. We must shift our mindset from celebrating what we consume to taking pride in what we produce. From consumption to production. That is how nations build wealth and become truly prosperous.

“Initial production is always very slow and follows an S-curve. The speed of the production ramp is inversely proportionate to how many new parts and steps there are. For Cybercab and Optimus, almost everything is new, so the early production rate will be agonizingly slow, but eventually end up being insanely fast.” —Elon Musk

Jaguar's new future has arrived. Meet the Type 01. If there is anything certain in our tumultuous automotive world, it is that upon seeing the newly revealed Jaguar Type 01 you will have an opinion. Likely a strong one. Jaguar design chief Andrew Wheel says that the new car is “The truest expression of Jaguar, in the context of today.” With the car now revealed, Jaguar has also opened the books to accept pre-orders from interested customers. But anybody wishing to kick the tires will have to wait until next year when full production is finally underway. It will also be around that time when we’ll get to finally determine if the driving experience lives up to the promising signs from pre-production encounters. What do you think about the Type 01's looks? Read our full story on the new Jaguar Type 01 ➡️

The Giga Texas Optimus Factory has made a lot of progress with ground work, GeoPiers & now the steel superstructure which has grown to 4 Floors, at least in the sender section! This is similar to the main factory construction and I suspect we will see varying levels throughout the structure as it continues to build out. This means that with the extension work to the south to reclaim even more land to further lengthen the structure, it will have a meaningful % of the 11 Million Sq Ft of the main factory, so this is truly becoming a massive factory! A large steel staging yard in nearby in the “lone tree” field & several large cranes are at work actively adding more steel as they build out from the center, again, very similar to how the main factory was constructed. Check it out!

#Ethiopia: New fertilizer factory to tap into #Calub and #Hilala natural gas reserves in #Ogaden basin The $2.5 billion investment agreement signed between Ethiopian Investment Holdings (EIH) and Dangote Group to build a urea fertilizer production complex in Gode, Somali Regional State will utilize natural gas from the Ogaden basin, specifically the Calub and Hilala reserves. EIH CEO Brook Taye (PhD) said the natural gas, a key input for urea fertilizer, will be supplied through a 108–109 kilometer pipeline connecting the reserves to Gode, where the factory will be established. Beyond fertilizer production, he noted, the project is designed to serve as a gateway to a wider petrochemical industry, with the gas also providing feedstock for future plants.

Elon Musk: “Optimus Will Be The Biggest Product Ever Created” Let's see Optimus. You know, as you've heard me say before, I think Optimus will be the biggest product ever. But it is a very complex problem to solve. It's one of the hardest things to solve. To make a humanoid robot that can do tasks that you simply ask it to do, or show it a video, and it can do the task without any programming — like, no one's ever achieved this. And there are many challenges in the electromechanical design of the robot, to achieve sufficient dexterity and reliable hands, to be very reliable and have long, long wear and tear. But, I mean, it's good to be out in the field and not break down. Otherwise, you get this 70-kilogram robot that just flopped over, and you could carry it around like a baby, you know. And we don't want Optimus to go haywire. So, it's a lot of work to scale, to get the design right, and to scale production. And I really want to emphasize here that the production scaling challenge is very, very substantial. So this is going to be the hardest product to scale manufacturing that we've ever made at Tesla, because everything on the robot is new. And the difficulty of scaling the production up is proportionate to the newness of the parts in the robot.
