It’s working well for me.” I believe this is the first time a Chicago mayor has acknowledged this freakish governance structure in public. Chicago’s mayor is also the only big city mayor in the country who directly fills City Council vacancies. Chicago City Council should elect its own president to preside over the legislative branch. When you had the opportunity to show up, sit in that hearing, and listen to an actual Chicago resident testify about what’s happening in our communities, you didn’t come. You didn’t have the courage to face the people living it. Now you want to talk about Chicago? No. You forfeited that right. Keep Chicago’s name out of your mouth. I went to the West Side, talked directly with residents, and this is what the citizens had to say out of their own mouths. I've been telling you, and I'm going to keep telling you. We're coming for those seats. I'm not playing games. All lies will be exposed. As Mayor, I will implement my Neighborhood Revitalization Plan to rebuild every community by repurposing vacant city-owned properties, supporting small businesses and homeownership, grants, tax break incentives ,cutting red tape, and making it easier for the people who live in these neighborhoods to own businesses and property in their own communities. I will put Chicago citizens first by ending sanctuary city policies, demanding independent forensic audits to ensure taxpayer dollars are being spent as intended, and bringing transparency and accountability back to City Hall. This is what Democrats affordable looks like. for the Chicago citizens. I decided to let you all see what my community looks like… what my neighborhood really looks like. This drive is almost a two-mile radius, and this is all you see: abandoned buildings, boarded-up homes, people who lost their houses, and hardly any homeownership left. And there are no thriving businesses, especially businesses owned by the people in the community. But what you do see everywhere are campaign signs Treasurer Melissa Conyears-Ervin Melissa Conyears-Ervin , Governor JB Pritzker , La Shawn Ford. All Democrats telling you to vote for them. But when I look around, all I see is a blighted and neglected community. A community that has been ignored for years. Money that was supposed to be invested here never made it to the people who actually live here. What I see are seniors on fixed incomes whose property taxes tripled. Families who lost their homes because they couldn’t keep up with those inflated taxes,/Property taxes. That was done by design. You voted Democrat for 50 years, giving them 95% of your vote, and this is what you have to show for it. This is what a Democrat-run Mayor Brandon Johnson Brandon Johnson, Toni Preckwinkle city looks like. They want your vote every election season, but look at your neighborhood.
