Those criminals spared the life or lives of those @eThekwiniM metro police officers, the criminals were heavily armed with rifles. Anyone criticising the metro police officers is definitely not being fair to them, they were caught off guard inside the mall.

The police/security had no chance and did the right thing. 1. Out numbered 2. Out-gunned 3. Shoppersy casualties avoided. 4. It was going to be easy to kill the officer whilst still in their car. I believe they just drove there unaware of crime.
