Arne Slot's Liverpool 7v7 : Midfield creating and denying overloads practice A practiced designed on how Liverpool's midfields running is able to create overloads in attack and deny them in defence. Practice Explained Below -

This is the analysis the practice is based off and some information on why this drill was designed and how it can help your midfielder understand how they are vital in attack and defence.

How it works - The practice starts with a contested ball in the middle. The blacks are attacking against the green GK and the reds are attacking against the blue GK.

Defenders and attackers are locked in to either the attacking half or the defensive half and can only pass over the halfway line. However the midfielders are able to move anywhere to support their teammates and can carry the ball over the halfway line and move between halves,

1 point for a goal 2 points if a midfielder scores it Why? - This incentivises the midfielders to run the hard yards box to box to help create overloads for their team and try to score for double points but to also cancel out the oppositions midfielders runs to deny overloads.

The contested ball at the start of each set allows for an opportunity for a transition for either team and will force both sets of midfielders to either makes runs forward to attack or recovery runs to help the defence. This will further emphasis the importance of these runs.
