Common issue, they select tourist and happened to a bunch of people while we were there, each having to pay €800 and in some instances you can barter the price down. Dont pay and you spend the next few days in Jail. They are making millions from this.

Firstly “they hardly speak English” you mean, you hardly speak Thai, since you’re in Thailand. Secondly, police don’t randomly take vapes and arrest you for having it. It’s not illegal. If they arrested you, it’s because you did something illegal.
