🚨🇺🇸Artemis II has achieved Core Stage MECO and spacecraft separation. NASA confirmed the SLS rocket’s giant core stage engines have shut down (MECO) and the Orion capsule has cleanly separated from the rocket. The four astronauts on this Artemis II mission will travel 600,000 miles around the moon. During their 10-day trip, they’ll test life support systems in the Orion capsule for future crewed missions to the moon’s surface. A moon landing would occur during Artemis III, which is currently targeted to launch sometime in 2027.
