PRX coaching staff alecks and Wendler reflect on what made it so difficult to get things going against NS RedForce: alecks: "They're very good, pretty much. I think they had a very good game plan on Split and we had no answer for it and I think that was the main issue. Corrode, I think we probably should have closed it out if we did a little bit better on certain rounds, but it is what it is. Sometimes you don't win crucial rounds and these things happen. But on Abyss, we knew it was going to be a tough match regardless. I think we had like 10 hours to prepare, so it wasn't the best, but we tried our best and I think Nongshim is a great team. I think they play very, very, very well together and we played against them for a long, long time, so we already knew that they were very, very good, so we're not really too bummed about it." Wendler: "I'd probably say the same. I think Corrode just got away from us at the end and we just lost a little bit of confidence going into map two. And when you give a team like Nongshim that type of space to just ramp up their confidence, it's really hard to come back from. We've seen them do that to plenty of teams this tournament. Give the best possible chance to our players and I know the atmosphere, the fans, the support, the energy in the stadium is the best in the world. “We have a much better chance. If you take strong action and it is very different action from what your country has known before...you can only be confident that your action is right if it is founded on strong principles. Mine was founded on the belief that governments are there to serve the liberties of the people under a rule of law, a free enterprise economy, and strong defence. After we lost the election in 1974, and the Labour Government came in, we had departed from our fundamental principles. And I set up a great study with many people—not only politicians but businessmen, academics, journalists—and we redrafted our whole principles. From the principles, we decided the policies and we sorted out what needed to be done and how it was to be done when we got into power. That took four years. I had confidence we were in the right and our policies would achieve the right. Although, as you know, great change means great dislocation. We had to cut expenditure; we had to privatise; we had to get down taxation; we had to cut the bureaucracy. All of the people objected, and for two and a half years my name was marred. It's always difficult to do the right thing. But my father had taught me to persevere: It's easy to be a starter, but are you a sticker-to? It's easy enough to begin a job, it's harder to see it through. And I saw it through. After three years, all of a sudden, the good things in the economy began to show through. At the same time, we had the Falklands, and against all odds we won. Although, the world thought it was really rather astonishing that Britain sent a fleet 8,000 miles away into the bitter cold Antarctic against a foe that had air cover from land when we only had it from aircraft carriers. So the two reinforced one another. But I couldn't have done it unless I had been confident that we had the right principles and that if we persisted, it would show through to the benefit of our people. I was never defeated in an election by the people of my country. That is my proudest boast.

Q: Esteban, new year, new rules, new car. You've had the first run out this morning at the Shakedown. What are the first impressions? How did the program go for you? Esteban Ocon: Yeah, feeling good. I think, frist of all, an unbelievable effort from the team really to put the car down, you know, at 9:20 this morning. But the was ready at 9:00 you know. We were waiting on a bit of a better track condition and a few things that we wanted to be perfect before we went out. But yeah, from Fiorano testing with Ollie to here there's been moving like people have climbed mountains really to make this car work and it's been really good. So, we are dealing with the plan, learning as it goes. Of course, it's a busy program that we have for the day. So you know, its gonna be difficult to complete it. But for the first real day of driving, I think so far it's going really well and we'll keep pushing to make sure that all the details are covered. But we have more days than normal which is a good thing. Q: Very early days, of course, but just how different are these cars to drive? Have you had a chance to play around a little bit with some of the new modes? Ocon: Yeah, it's very difficult, very complicated. I got lucky be able to do a lot of simulator days before we started the year, so we are pretty well set on that. Everything is clear, but yes, it's very complicated you know, for all of us. But I hope that this will be the same for everyone, because if it is we're in the same boat, so we'll see. Q: But I get the sense you're really relishing that challange and what about the priorities from here, the rest of the weel here at the shakedown? Ocon: Yeah, the aim is really to learn, to get mileage under the car, you know, see the weak points, what we have to improve really. UNC head coach Jenny Levy wants more transparency regarding two overturned UNC goals — one that would have put it up 10-7, and the other which would have tied the game at 12-12. “I’m not looking at the review and I haven’t looked at the film, but it seems to me that we have a lot of work to do with our game. It’s unfortunate. They didn’t give us an explanation on what it was. We clearly saw on our iPads what it was, so probably disagreed with that. I thought that those were momentum-changing decisions and I thought that our team had to battle through that, and we didn’t do as well as we could.”
