I mean technically Soldier isn’t wrong about guessing Heavy would be Alaskan. Since Alaska did belong to Russia long ago so him thinking Heavy is an American of Russian heritage isn’t really that far fetched.

Soldier not knowing his teammates are foreigners is a dumb retcon. His most iconic lines are those that mock his enemies for their nationalities. I hate how they made Soldier dumb instead of merely a paranoid lunatic who happened to be competent at fighting.
