As a passenger, what's your Ryanair experience?

Get what you pay for. No frills. Play by the rules and it’s a cost effective way of travelling, safely.

Absolutely love Ryanair! They try to upsell you every step of the way, but if you stick to the basics, they are cheaper than taking a bus.

@Ryanair is the worst airline I've ever used in over 35 years of business travel. I avoid it like the plague.

As a passenger I avoid them, the staff is grumpy. I have flown a lot on other low cost carriers where the staff at least smiles and are pleasant, that doesn’t cost anything but it makes the experience so much better for everyone.

As a passenger I hate the budget experience. That's why I mostly avoid it. However more "premium" airlines seem to be defaulting to this to cut costs... And to fly business for every little flight I find a over the top.

Better than some premium airlines. I got what I paid for and was not disappointed. The hard sell on inflight duty free and ambivalent staff were probably the only detractors. But hey it was a 25 pound airfare for a 2 hour flight.

I find the Blue and Yellow theme offensive

Which colour would you suggest they adopt instead?

You get what you pay for. On time. On budget. And they have airstairs!😍😍 Honestly I dont like every minute on there planes. But…

Utterly horrible. The only time I have ever felt claustrophobia in a plane was a short flight of theirs from Paris to Madrid.

Generally it has been very good. But for several years now they haven’t been that competitive when having checked in luggage, so I tend to choose the main airlines if the difference isn’t that big & of course the option exists. Glad they exist because more competition means better prices for everyone whatever you think of Ryanair.

If you live next to regional airport, it’s the only way to flight directly to lots of places, without a layover in hubs. I consider it as a way of transportation from point A to B. That’s it. Done it maany times and had zero negative experience. For 10-20usd I cant complain.

Efficient and cost effective way to get my family to Portugal. Half the price of many others.

I've honestly never had a problem with them. My ethos is that their rules apply, if you think you're in the right, and that your rules apply, don't moan when it comes back to bite you - and just for the record, I've flown hundreds and hundreds of times, for work and pleasure

1. Problem is the cheat-tactics. Booking is filled with stupid options nobody really wants. Hire car? Hotel? To increase spend. "Sir, your baggage is 3mm too large. Yes Sir, we have non-standard bag sizes. Just to collect extra fees". Avoiding Ryan if possible. Safety ok though

My only experience was a couple of years ago, flight between MAD-VCE,on time and without a problem. 👍

Get on, sit down, shut up. Headphones in. Sleep. "THUMP" Get off.

It’s like a local bus service at 40,000 ft. Cheap, no frills. You know what you’re getting. Gets me from the U.K. to the south of France and back multiple times a year for $40-100 each way. You can’t complain at that.

Fair for the price

As an A to B service, it's way better than most bus and train services. On time & cost effective if you play by the rules. You don't expect a Ferrari to pull up when you stand at a bus stop.

I stoped flying with them in the early 2000s.

Love it or hate it, Ryanair have done us all a great service. Do you know how expensive was the European air travel in the 90’s before they become mainstream?

They will get you to your destination. Make sure you are not overweight with baggage. It is not at all glamourous and you need to book well ahead, or it won't be cheap. The purpose of air travel is to reach a destination, not spend a few hours in a nice seat.

On the plane, seats a little uncomfortable. Still OK. Staff bugging about "buy a coffee". Then comes the bad part, long expensive bus ride needed. Easyjet about same. If it is contracted check-in staff, they get a bounty for every bag they can stick a surcharge fee on. "Nice".

The experience take all the fun and excitement out of travelling. I see Ryainir as an airline for those who live abroad to return home cheaply several times a year with little baggage. That’s all I ever used it for. Never for a holiday as it’s too stressful flying w them.

Nice crew, service is good, I pay for extra leg space since and tall. It take me there at time.

I flown a lot with FR and my experience is 100% good. I don't like the internal color scheme (yellow+blue) and i'm not a 737 fan, but is fine. Recently i found carriers operating the same routes at much lower fares, with more interesting luggage policies.

One time I flew BCN-STN, was a nice flight. Only thing is, STN isn't really a London airport. Was like a 2 hour $50 bus ride to Victoria Station. The bus ride was more expensive than the flight and took about the same amount of time.

Fantastic. Want cheap and cheerful, no problem. Want additional benefits, no problem. Full flexibility offered

I live next to Paphos airport where Ryanair has it’s base in Cyprus. I drive 1.5 hours to Larnaca airport when I need to travel to get a flight with some other airline. So much about Ryanair. It’s worth every effort to avoid it!

No issues, we all know what they do so play them at their game, take the "travel btwn X & Y date if you book by midnight tomorrow" offer, its a cheap flight, so go with a small bag and accept any seat. You're going a thousand miles for less than the cost of a night in the pub.

You get for what you paid for. This is a bit like taking a city bus. Non real confort but no expectation. An strong advantage is their network density over Europe.

You get what you pay for. Not more, not less. They (mostly) get on time to their destinations, have a considerable safety record and their cabin crew has always been really nice. For a cheap, short flight and if you don’t mind secondary airports, it’s a nice option to take.

Being absolutely honest, I’ve flown them many times. If you follow the rules and expect the basic service they are absolutely fine. The difference is with cancelled flights. Ryanair=sleeping in the airport lounge, Aer Lingus=Gold standard, hotel, dinner, breakfast and mini bus.

hate them with a passion after the way I was treated when my wife died while abroad, horrible company

It’s a bit like a holiday to Benidorm. Have an open mind, you’re not paying over the odds, take it for what it is then you won’t be disappointed. You’re using a budget airline for a reason, so just accept you’re getting a safe flight with no frills and you won’t be disappointed.
