On 4th May Edison Moirangthem posted a video on social medias where he confidently proclaimed that some meitei women were raped openly by the kuki-zo volunteers without any evidences. The news had also reached local medias where majority of the people believed and protests were held in different states where they put up pictures from google on a banner and tried to malign the image of the kuki-zo men. However these claims or accusations were proven to be wrong by their respective parents. But it didn’t do much help as some of our women already were victims of r@pe at that point where the meiteis tried to justify as an act of retribution. Another influencer Soma Laishram had also taken to social media where she talked about women supposedly being r@ped openly. Our peaceful struggle for justice and human rights has been met with increased brutality. Today, more than 200 of our fellow activists, including prominent leaders such as Dr. Mahrang Baloch, Shahji Baloch, and Beebarg Baloch, are being held in illegal detention. We urge all international human rights organizations and the global community to continue raising their voices against these grave injustices.
