There are moments in life that quietly remind you why you kept going even on the longest days, the hardest assignments, the exhausting deadlines and the seasons where all you could do was trust the process and keep showing up. Winning the Tri-Annual Award for the First Quarter of 2026 while maintaining the momentum from 2025 is one of those deeply humbling moments for me. The last 18 months at Next Media have honestly felt like a dream unfolding in real time. A marathon that has stretched me, refined me, challenged me and excited me all at once. From reporting in the field to anchoring, from current affairs to editorial responsibilities, every opportunity has demanded more of me and in many ways helped me discover more of myself. I have always believed that the things we give our time to deserve intention. And work, for me, has never just been work. It has been purpose, discipline, sacrifice, curiosity and relentless commitment to becoming better every single day. Learning. Sharpening. Applying. Repeating. Showing up early. Staying late. Executing with consistency. Sometimes obsessively. But always wholeheartedly. To be recognized four times consecutively across different categories and capacities is something I do not take lightly. The Colosseum had a retractable roof, operated by a crew of sailors, almost 2000 years before any modern stadium. It was called the velarium: an enormous awning of canvas and rope that could be drawn across the open top of the arena to shade fifty thousand spectators from the Roman sun. It was so large and so complex that ordinary labourers could not manage it. The Romans brought in sailors from the imperial fleet, men who spent their lives handling rigging and sail, and stationed them at the top of the structure to extend and retract the canvas as the day moved. A building that has stood, roofless to our eyes, for centuries was in fact designed to be covered. That is the pattern with the Colosseum: almost everything about it was way more advanced than it looks today... Construction began around 72 AD under the emperor Vespasian. Once completed, it was the largest amphitheater in the Roman world: an elliptical structure of stone, concrete, and travertine, 189 meters long, rising as high as a modern fifteen story building. It could hold around 50,000 people and the staircases allowed that entire crowd to enter and leave with a speed that modern stadium designers still study. Beneath the arena floor lay the hypogeum, a hidden labyrinth of tunnels, cells, and machinery. Animals and gladiators waited there in the dark. Numerous trap doors opened in the wooden floor above them, and through hidden lifts and ramps a lion, a leopard, or an armed man could rise into the daylight as if from nowhere, in front of tens of thousands of people. The Romans knew that they had built something that would outlast them so completely that the Colosseum became, for the people who came after, a measure of the world's own endurance. In the 8th century, an epigram attributed to the Venerable Bede offered a prophecy that has never lost its allure: "As long as the Colosseum stands, so shall Rome; when the Colosseum falls, Rome shall fall; when Rome falls, so falls the world." What is XRP Ledger 3.3.0 Upgrade? The XRP Ledger is moving from version 3.2.1 to 3.3.0, bringing a substantial set of protocol changes. But there is an important distinction. The 3.3.0 software release does not mean every new feature is already active on the XRPL mainnet. The release gives validators the software needed to support new amendments, which must separately pass the XRPL's amendment process. Put simply, this upgrade is less about changing how the entire XRP Ledger works and more about giving it new tools for payments, tokenization, privacy and institutional use. Here are the major changes: (1) Batch Transactions Batch transactions allow multiple transactions to be packaged and executed as a single atomic unit. That means a group of related transactions can either succeed together or fail together. This could be particularly useful for institutional delivery versus payment, where an asset and payment need to settle together without leaving one side completed while the other fails. The XLS-56 standard defines the Batch design and allows multiple transactions to be processed as one atomic unit. (2) Permission Delegation Permission Delegation allows an account to grant specific transaction permissions without handing another party control of its main private key. That could make operational wallets easier to manage for institutions. For example, a business could delegate certain actions to another party while retaining control over the underlying account. The important point is that delegation is limited by the permissions granted, rather than becoming a transfer of complete account ownership. (3) Sponsor Sponsor tackles one of XRPL's less visible barriers for new users. Accounts and certain ledger objects require XRP reserves, while transactions also require fees. Sponsor allows another account to cover those costs on behalf of a user. That could be useful for neobanks, wallets and other applications that want customers to use XRPL without first acquiring XRP simply to satisfy network requirements. The XLS-68 proposal specifically covers sponsored fees and reserves while keeping the user's account control intact. (4) Confidential Transfers Confidential Transfers bring a limited form of privacy to Multi-Purpose Tokens, or MPTs. The feature is designed to hide certain balances and transfer amounts while preserving mechanisms for authorized parties to verify information when required. This is important for institutions handling tokenized assets because complete public visibility can create problems around commercially sensitive transactions. However, this is not full account anonymity. The feature is focused on MPTs. It does not suddenly make XRP transactions private across the entire XRP Ledger. (5) Dynamic MPT Dynamic Multi-Purpose Tokens make MPTs more flexible after issuance. Token issuers can designate certain properties as mutable when creating the token. Those permitted properties can then be changed later without making every part of the token freely editable. That could matter for tokenized real-world assets whose requirements may change over time. The XLS-94 proposal is designed specifically around this controlled flexibility. (6) Fixes And Protocol Improvements Not everything included in XRPL 3.3.0 is a headline feature. The release also contains software fixes, security improvements, performance work and other protocol changes. The official 3.3.0 release includes Batch V1.1, Confidential Transfer for MPTs, Sponsor and Dynamic MPT work, alongside numerous fixes and engineering changes. There is also an important history behind some of these features. Earlier versions of Batch and Permission Delegation encountered security issues before activation, leading developers to work on revised implementations. That means the new versions are not simply new features appearing overnight. They are also the result of the XRPL's amendment and security review process. And this is perhaps the most important thing to understand about XRPL 3.3.0. A software release is not the same thing as a network activation. Validators still need to support individual amendments through the XRP Ledger's governance process before those capabilities become active. So XRPL 3.3.0 should be viewed as an important infrastructure milestone rather than six new features suddenly switching on simultaneously. It's called the Vittoriano, or the Altar of the Fatherland, and it stands at the foot of the Capitoline Hill, which has been a centre of Roman civic and religious life for more than two and a half thousand years. Italy had been a unified country for only twenty-four years when construction began. Before 1861, the peninsula had been a patchwork of kingdoms, duchies, papal lands and foreign provinces. The new nation was, in the words of the Italian statesman Massimo d'Azeglio, a state without a people: "We have made Italy. All that remains is to make Italians." The country existed on paper but it did not yet exist in the imagination of its citizens. In 1880, the government held a competition for a national monument to Victor Emmanuel II, the first king of the unified country. Five years later, the young architect Giuseppe Sacconi won with a design that proposed nothing less than a new sacred centre for the nation. It was inaugurated on 4 June 1911, on the fiftieth anniversary of Italian unification. It is 135 metres wide and 81 metres tall at the wings of the bronze quadrigas crowning its roof. Every surface is faced in brilliant white Botticino marble. Two enormous chariots of Victory ride along the skyline. In 1921, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier was installed at the base of the monument, with an eternal flame for the unidentified Italian dead of the First World War. Italian presidents regularly lay wreaths there during major state ceremonies. Locals colloquially call it the "Wedding Cake" or the "Typewriter", and architectural critics dismiss its scale and its unapologetic neoclassicism. The mockery has become part of how Italians know it. But underneath the jokes is a monument built for one of the most consequential moments in modern European history... Italy spent centuries divided between foreign powers and rival kingdoms. The Vittoriano commemorates the long struggle by which it became one nation. Today I ran into a condition that everyone here is probably familiar with: what I call a brain melt (“poplava”). No point beating around the bush – my mental health has been on a roller coaster, albeit well within the boundaries of psychiatry, since 2015, when I lost my first pregnancy. I developed a full-blown clinical depression, and for years I stubbornly refused to treat it with medication because, well, wasn’t I supposed to be strong enough to handle it on my own? By the time I finally agreed to antidepressants, I was in terrible shape. I’d gone through a second pregnancy loss, then had a baby, started supporting the whole family with a full-time job when my son was only three months old, and then COVID lockdowns hit. In hindsight, I’m incredibly lucky I was already on antidepressants when the full-scale invasion began. During the first two years of the war, I burned through every reserve I’d built up over the previous years – mental, physical, and financial. Then, in 2024, I simply hit a wall. I became deeply immersed in the reality of what was happening on the front line, in the occupied territories, and in the filtration camps. A criminal case was opened against me in Russia, my bank accounts and PayPal were shut down, and the Russians even identified my home in Belgium. It was… eventful. That’s when I had my first real, proper poplava. Today I ran into a condition that everyone here is probably familiar with: what I call a brain melt (“poplava”). No point beating around the bush – my mental health has been on a roller coaster, albeit well within the boundaries of psychiatry, since 2015, when I lost my first pregnancy. I developed a full-blown clinical depression, and for years I stubbornly refused to treat it with medication because, well, wasn’t I supposed to be strong enough to handle it on my own? By the time I finally agreed to antidepressants, I was in terrible shape. I’d gone through a second pregnancy loss, then had a baby, started supporting the whole family with a full-time job when my son was only three months old, and then COVID lockdowns hit. In hindsight, I’m incredibly lucky I was already on antidepressants when the full-scale invasion began. During the first two years of the war, I burned through every reserve I’d built up over the previous years – mental, physical, and financial. Then, in 2024, I simply hit a wall. I became deeply immersed in the reality of what was happening on the front line, in the occupied territories, and in the filtration camps. A criminal case was opened against me in Russia, my bank accounts and PayPal were shut down, and the Russians even identified my home in Belgium. It was… eventful. That’s when I had my first real, proper poplava. If it was previously possible to migrate over 100,000 per day, why has it changed? The CT has stated that they will OM until the first quarter of this year to bring the migratiion in line with KYC amounts. However, if it's technically feasible to achieve a higher migration speed, why isn’t it being done? The answer is quite simple: it depends on what everyone does with the Pi after such large migration numbers. If pioneers rush to buy and sell, hold onto their Pi coins, or trade at low value, it will impact the speed and efficiency of the next migration in these regions. This principle is not only theoretically valid but has proven true in practice. For instance, countries like the Philippines, Indonesia, and Malaysia have a solid educational foundation in GCV. Most pioneers there are highly aware of the risks involved in participating in the black market, which allows them to generate a substantial amount of GCV data. As a result, their migration speed is notably fast, and there are many large wallet migrated. To help the CT regain momentum, we all need to cooperate. Engage with the migrated Pi and participate in the GCV barter ecosystem. From December 17th to around the 30th, the migrating speed was over 50,000 to 100,000 per day, but now it has dropped to just over 10,000. What is the reason for this decline? If it was previously possible to migrate over 100,000 per day, why has it changed? The CT has stated that they will OM until the first quarter of this year to bring the migratiion in line with KYC amounts. However, if it's technically feasible to achieve a higher migration speed, why isn’t it being done? The answer is quite simple: it depends on what everyone does with the Pi after such large migration numbers. If pioneers rush to buy and sell, hold onto their Pi coins, or trade at low value, it will impact the speed and efficiency of the next migration in these regions. AI Is Moving Beyond “Generating Videos” — Toward “Generating Worlds” Over the past two years, AI video models have advanced at an astonishing pace. From Runway and Pika to Sora and Veo, AI-generated videos have become increasingly realistic and more consistent with the physical laws of the real world. Many people believe the next objective is simply to generate videos that are longer, sharper, and more lifelike. But if we take a step back, we can see that the real transformation is not happening in video itself. It is happening in world models. What Is a World Model? In 1943, psychologist Kenneth Craik proposed an idea that would influence artificial intelligence research for decades. He argued that the human brain does not merely react to the outside world. Instead, it maintains an internal model of how the world works. Because we have this internal model, we can predict the outcome of an action before we actually take it. Before crossing a road, we estimate whether a car will pass by. Before catching a ball, we predict its trajectory. These abilities come from continuously simulating the world in our minds, rather than relying entirely on trial and error. This idea later became known by a more formal term: World Model. A world model does not describe a single image or a fixed video clip. It is an internal representation capable of continuously simulating the rules and dynamics of the real world. Why Is AI Research Turning Toward World Models? Because predicting “what comes next” is becoming increasingly central to how AI systems work. Language models predict the next token. Image models predict the next step in the denoising process. Video models predict the next frame. A world model, however, attempts to predict something broader: What should the world look like in the next moment? In 2018, David Ha and Jürgen Schmidhuber proposed in their paper World Models that an intelligent agent could first learn a model of the world, and then use that internal model to plan its actions. The Dreamer series later demonstrated that many complex tasks could be learned by training agents inside an “imagined world.” At the same time, the development of video models such as Sora and Veo led researchers to another realization: A model capable of continuously generating video has already learned, at least implicitly, many of the rules governing the real world. As a result, these two research directions have gradually begun to converge. But Video Is Not Yet a World This is where the distinction is often misunderstood. For a world model to support meaningful real-time interaction, it must solve several critical problems. Most video models today are essentially answering one question: What should the next frame look like? A true world model needs to answer much more: What happens if I take one step forward? If I walk behind a building and then return, will the building still be there? If I suddenly change the camera angle, will the entire space remain consistent? If I enter a command such as: “Summon a dragon.” Will the world respond immediately? In other words, a world model must do more than generate content. It must understand space. It must understand time. It must understand causality. And it must understand interaction. Moving from watching to participating is where the real difficulty of world models begins. World Models Are Entering the Interactive Era One of the latest attempts in this direction is Alaya World, recently open-sourced by Alaya World, or Alaya Lab. Instead of generating a fixed video clip, it generates a world that users can explore in real time. Users can begin with text, an image, or a video, enter the generated scene, move freely through it, and introduce new prompts at any moment during generation. The world responds immediately. According to the publicly released information, Alaya World provides: Real-time streaming generation at 720p and 24 FPS Stable continuous exploration for more than one minute The ability to switch prompts and trigger skills or events during generation Model weights and inference code released under the Apache 2.0 License Training code and datasets planned for future release What makes these capabilities important is not simply the technical specifications. It is that the generated “world” can now support continuous interaction. The official demo shows that users can genuinely control, transform, and explore the generated environment. AI Is Evolving From a Tool Into an Environment Over the past few years, most discussions around AI have focused on content generation. Generating text. Generating images. Generating videos. But world models raise a fundamentally different question: Can AI generate an environment that people can inhabit, explore, and continuously evolve? If the answer is yes, the impact will extend far beyond video generation. Game development, robotics training, embodied intelligence, digital twins, virtual production, and many other fields could be transformed by the development of world models. World models are still at a very early stage.
