Two weeks ago, we launched the Mobile Triage Center on 6th Street because the status quo clearly wasn’t working. Halfway through the 30-day pilot, the data shows that we are getting people off the street and connected to medical care and shelter. When I visited this week, neighbors told me they’ve noticed a decrease in drug dealing. Clearly, when we focus law enforcement and public health resources, we can disrupt this dangerous, illegal activity. As the pilot continues, we will continue to measure outcomes and learn. We are also exploring how to expand these solutions to other parts of the city, including the Mission and Jefferson Square Park, where a multi-agency law enforcement team arrested dozens at a drug market this week. We will scale these efforts and tackle this issue citywide.
