What is happening in Georgia is not just a challenge for one nation or our region. The current Georgian government is pushing the country into clear dependence on Russia. It’s disgraceful to see the steps they are taking against their own people. When Moscow praises the Georgian authorities, it leaves no doubt about who they are truly serving in Tbilisi—and it is certainly not the people of Georgia. We are preparing a legal response and are working with Europeans and other partners on concrete actions. I have instructed the relevant authorities to prepare appropriate sanctions decisions.
