Russian tanker diverts course amid US naval presence A sanctioned Russian oil tanker has made three failed attempts to reach Venezuela after a US Navy destroyer blocked its route. According to #MarineTraffic data, the Seahorse departed from the Port of Matanzas in Cuba on November 9 at 8:54 a.m. local time. While sailing toward Venezuela, the vessel made a U-turn on November 14 after altering its course to 160 degrees. According to media reports, the vessel was intercepted by the U.S. Navy destroyer USS Stockdale. The laden tanker made another U-turn on November 16, rejoining its initial route, before being intercepted again in the early hours of November 17, after which it made yet another attempt to continue its voyage. Steve Reed is lying his way through another media round. “We have systems and defences in place that keep the United Kingdom safe” HMS Duncan is the only asset we currently have capable of intercepting a ballistic missile. It’s already committed to deploying with the HMS Prince of Wales Carrier Strike Group on Operation Firecrest. We currently don’t have enough seaworthy Type 45s to fulfil our existing commitments, which includes the flagship role for the Standing NATO Maritime Group One, let alone defence of the UK mainland against hypothetical ballistic missile attack. “We will take necessary defensive action to protect British interests, British people or our allies across the region” No, we haven’t. We deployed HMS Dragon which has only just arrived in the Eastern Mediterranean. We haven’t intercepted a single missile and have intercepted a handful of the thousands of drone fired. Bahrain is one of our closest allies in the region. It has been repeatedly struck by missiles and drones for three weeks. There is no account of us having played any role in intercepting any of them, despite the C-SIPA agreement between us and the presence of the UK Naval Support Facility. “The UK has been taking down drones and missiles that have been fired around” We haven’t intercepted any missiles. The only capability that could is HMS Dragon, and that has been in transit. “Our assessment is that there was a missile launched at Diego Garcia, two I think….one failed and the other was intercepted, so that shows that our defensive capabilities are correct” An Iranian IRBM failing doesn’t show our defensive capabilities are correct; we got lucky. I predicted the blockade several weeks ago, and again in the film. The target is not just Iran. "The US are operating as a pirate state, and needn't even enter the Strait of Hormuz, and can simply lie in wait near Diego Garcia or across the Indian Ocean to ambush commercial vessels at will. Pricing cargo in Yuan achieves nothing if the cargo is sunk by an irrational actor."

These suites are pretty tiny. Now, maybe all these companies that we visit aren't doing anything wrong, but then again, maybe they are. 🚨🚨Yesterday, our volunteers went to the displacement Shelter housed in Paradise Nursery in Al Hitana Omdurman. As they were trying to distribute baby formula, an RSF fired shell landed in the Nursery Courtyard; as the children were playing. Two young boys were killed and another 11 children were hospitalised with varying degrees of injury. This clip filmed by one of our volunteers shows the aftermath of the incident. Khartoum Aid Kitchen will be contributing to the cost of the medical treatment of these children. This didn't happen by accident. It happened because the United States is blocking fuel shipments to the island, an act of collective punishment dressed up as strategy. I introduced legislation to stop Trump from dragging us into an unconstitutional conflict with Cuba. Because cruelty is not a foreign policy. We can choose diplomacy and humanity. Together, we have to demand it.

Friends, on this Fifth Sunday of Easter, we have an extraordinary Gospel that is at the heart of the Christian thing. Jesus, at the beginning of a lengthy and incredibly rich monologue he gives the night before he dies, says to his disciples, “I give you a new commandment: love one another. As I have loved you, so you also should love one another. This is how all will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” This is not a sentimental or psychological banality. To understand Jesus here, we have to understand what a strange thing love is—and the way the word is being used.

Friends, on this Fifth Sunday of Easter, we have an extraordinary Gospel that is at the heart of the Christian thing. The war did nothing to improve American security. We destabilized the Middle East. We turned Iraq into an Iranian proxy state. The destabilization created a huge refugee problem that spilled over into Syria, which is another intervention that we bungled. We got in Afghanistan initially motivated by the fact that they supported Al Qaeda, which attacked us on 9/11, but then we stayed there in an open-ended occupation for 20 years, and the entire time we were told that we were winning and the country was being transformed into a democracy and everything turned out to be a lie. All of these foreign interventions in the middle east cost us $8 trillion, and the number of deaths is staggering. Almost a million direct deaths from all the wars we launched, and I've seen excess mortality numbers as high as 5 million. We unleashed staggering death and destruction. So, I don't know how you can live through the past twenty years without rethinking American foreign policy. Not recognizing that American foreign policy has been overly activist and overly interventionist. It's totally backfired on us and blown up in our faces. The sad thing is the same people that got us involved in that foreign policy are still there. It's the foreign policy establishment. There's been very little accountability for all of those people. In fact, most of them have moved to the Democratic party. They are really comfortable with the idea of state power."

Last night, Russia once again waged war on critical infrastructure and ordinary residential buildings. 420 drones – most of them “shaheds” – and 39 missiles of various types, including 11 ballistic ones, were fired at our people. Destruction has been recorded in eight regions, with many private homes and apartment buildings damaged. As of now, dozens of people are reported injured as a result of this attack, including children. Gas infrastructure facilities in the Poltava region were also targeted, along with electrical substations in the Kyiv and Dnipro regions. First responders have been working in the Chernihiv, Zaporizhzhia, Kharkiv, Kirovohrad, Vinnytsia, and Kyiv regions, as well as in the capital. Most missiles launched today were successfully intercepted thanks to our partners swiftly sending part of the air defense missiles agreed upon at the recent Ramstein meeting. Unfortunately, there were also hits. And this means we must continue working even more actively. The cold has not yet fully receded, and air defense missiles are needed every single day while Russia continues its attempts to destroy our energy system. I thank everyone who understands this and helps us.
