Freed Palestinian prisoner Shadi Barghouti in an interview: "No matter what we say, it will never be enough. We are deeply ashamed that our freedom came at such a heavy price. All the prisoners carry the responsibility of ensuring we live up to the task—freedom came at a price that was not small. The responsibility upon us is heavy, heavy, heavy. Gaza is destroyed but its people were steadfast and sacrificed and this is the path to freedom and liberation! For the freedom of Palestine, the price will be heavy. The prisoners have very high morale, they are steadfast, do not worry about them. They are lions, lions, lions despite the targeting, the hunger, the pain. We lived inside graves. We lost all sense of time, food was scarce, and the torture was like Nazi prisons, the same actions the Germans did in Nazi prisons. But we were steadfast.
