How Sudan’s War Was Reframed as a “War on Terror”: Inside a UAE-Linked Coordinated Digital Campaign A new open-source investigation by Eekad revealed how a coordinated digital campaign worked to reframe Sudan’s war for Western audiences, stripping it of its political and humanitarian context and recasting it as part of a global “war on terror.” Since the outbreak of the war in Sudan, an increasingly dominant narrative has circulated across Western social media spaces, portraying the conflict as nothing more than a battle against Islamic extremism. This framing did not emerge organically. The investigation by Eekad shows that it was the product of a systematic digital effort aimed at redefining Sudan’s war in a way that obscures its political realities and humanitarian cost, while shielding perpetrators of mass atrocities from accountability. Through extensive monitoring of discussions on the X platform, Eekad identified a sharp rise in English-language content linking the Sudanese Armed Forces to the Muslim Brotherhood and to jihadist organizations. This rhetoric, often presented as counterterrorism analysis, was neither spontaneous nor driven by genuine debate. Instead, it was led by a network of Emirati accounts, reinforced by Israeli and far-right Western accounts, and amplified further by news-oriented profiles that adopted the same language and framing. The objective of this campaign was clear. By removing the war from its political and humanitarian context, the conflict was reframed as part of the global “war on terror.” This reframing deliberately sidelined the documented crimes of the Rapid Support Militia, including massacres, prolonged sieges, and the use of starvation as a weapon. In doing so, it redirected Western public attention away from civilian suffering and toward a simplified ideological narrative that implicitly justified violence. Data analysis by Eekad illustrates the scale of the operation. During 2025 alone, more than 235,000 posts were generated by over 117,000 accounts within this narrative ecosystem. Yet less than 2 percent of this activity consisted of original content. The overwhelming majority relied on reposting, repetition, and artificial amplification, revealing a propaganda recycling mechanism rather than an authentic public conversation. Peaks in engagement were not random. Eekad identified three distinct waves of digital escalation that coincided precisely with pivotal moments in the Rapid Support Militia’s crimes. The first followed the tightening siege of El Fasher. The second came after a mosque inside the city was targeted, resulting in the killing of dozens of civilians. The third wave aligned with rising international outrage over mass killings. In each instance, the same narrative was pushed aggressively, linking the Sudanese army to terrorism and reframing atrocities as justified or unavoidable responses. Tracing the origins of the campaign further, Eekad found that Emirati accounts played a leading role in launching the narrative, prominently including figures such as Amjad Taha, known for promoting Israeli-aligned talking points. These accounts employed overtly Islamophobic language, likening the Sudanese army to groups such as Al-Qaeda, and packaging the conflict in conceptual frames familiar and palatable to Western audiences. Once established, the narrative was picked up by Israeli and far-right networks, which internationalized it and integrated it into a broader ideological war discourse. News-oriented accounts then provided an additional layer of legitimacy by reproducing the narrative under the appearance of neutrality, repeatedly presenting Sudan’s war as a counterterrorism issue rather than a humanitarian catastrophe. Network analysis conducted by Eekad revealed clear coordination and mutual amplification among these groups, supported by active Indian-based amplification networks. This interconnected structure confirms that the reduction of Sudan’s war to a “war on terror” was not a neutral description or analytical shortcut, but a deliberate propaganda tool. Ultimately, this campaign did not seek to offer an alternative interpretation of the conflict, but to control how it is perceived within Western public discourse, in a manner that serves specific actors, foremost among them the United Arab Emirates. By diverting public attention, pushing massacres out of view, and redefining the parties to the war, the campaign stripped the crimes of their human dimension and turned victims into marginal details within a packaged ideological narrative. The findings of Eekad demonstrate that this form of digital influence, linked to active Emirati networks, is no longer merely an auxiliary tool of conflict but has become part of its structure. Algorithms and amplification networks were used to reshape facts, neutralize international accountability, and create a political and media environment that allows violence to continue without immediate cost. In the case of Sudan, the danger of this trajectory goes beyond distorting the truth. 🚨 The more I read the JFK files, the more I’m convinced that 2020 was an organized regime-change operation, by the CIA and their subsidiaries. The release of C19 was economic sabotage via biological agent, just like Project Mongoose. It destroyed Trump’s economy, and gave the Deep State a platform to launch their full-scale propaganda campaign to oust Trump in the election. The failing economy, loss of jobs, shutdowns, etc., were all blamed on Trump, and it worked. Then the CIA/USAID/Soros funded and orchestrated the BLM riots and “Summer of Love”, while using ANTIFA as ‘Brown-Shirts’ to spread violence and intimidation, similar to how the CIA did in Iran, Guatemala, and Chile during the Cold War, and how Soros did it in Eastern Europe/Ukraine. All the violence and chaos was blamed on Trump and his supporters for being racist, and it worked. Then January 6th happened, and we later found out that it was far less violent than we were told, the CIA-controlled MSM blew the entire thing out of proportion, and they withheld countless hours of video showing the officers letting everyone in and walking around peacefully. Then we later found out that there were feds in the crowd and provocateurs that fueled/escalated the crowd to riot, in addition to Pelosi calling off security and refusing the National Guard, then they tried to cover the whole thing up. January 6th was an orchestrated event, in order to prevent electors from challenging a stolen election. In addition, it gave their propaganda machine more fodder to demonize and censor Trump and his supporters under the new regime, allowing them to stifle any dissent on social media pointing out the coup that just happened. All of this was made possible by the near global control of media and social media, to push their propaganda and maintain their desired narratives. What we witnessed in 2020 was the CIA regime-change playbook. The same tactics they use to overthrow leaders around the globe, they used on Trump. We are under attack from the enemy within. Two things can be true at the same time: We can acknowledge the brutal reality of the Iranian regime and their murdering of protesters. And we can also know for sure that a forever war will not resolve that issue. We’ve seen what’s happened in other areas in the Middle East — in Libya, in Syria, and beyond. Of course, the war in Iraq. We already have multiple American service members who are dead for an illegal action that the president has pursued with no plan out.
