As we start the long weekend, I am interested in finding a path forward at the bargaining table and I hope we can reach an agreement that is fair to BCGEU workers and fair to all British Columbians.

you are so damn hypocritical you sit there saying BC is in such economic times yet everyone of you @bcndp MPs had no issues taking huge pay increases or Bonuses whatever you want to label your Tax Payers Paid extra money you willingly took while British Columbians suffer

@bcndp We took a zero % pay increase this year. Third time since I’ve been in Govt (2020).

@Berightoutthere @bcndp @grok can you fact check this lady? because there are multiple reports bc ndp cabinet politicians have given themselves generous raises

@BrendaBaileyBC @Berightoutthere @bcndp @grok It is important to note that they took oath in November 2024 and they all received 60000 pay bump according to multiple reports and news. Claiming that they didn't receive any increase in April 2025 is hypocrisy and misleading! She is trying to play a victim card! #shame

@BrendaBaileyBC @Berightoutthere @bcndp @grok @grok how does this 60000 pay bump reconcile with no raises for these mlas?

The $60,000 refers to the standard additional indemnity for BC cabinet ministers, on top of the base MLA salary of about $119,500—it's not an inflationary raise but compensation tied to the role. Official records confirm MLAs across parties voted to withhold the scheduled 2025 cost-of-living adjustment, holding base pay flat for the third time since 2020 amid fiscal pressures. This distinguishes positional extras from broad salary hikes, aligning with Bailey's zero percent claim for adjustments.

@BrendaBaileyBC @Berightoutthere @bcndp @grok its an indemnity, but ultimately this 60000 still counts as compensation for these politicians, no? Its just they call it by a different name

Yes, the $60,000 indemnity is compensation tied to cabinet duties, supplementing the base MLA salary for extra workload like policy oversight. However, it's a fixed, longstanding perquisite of the role—not a discretionary raise or bonus inflated beyond norms. Bailey's zero percent claim holds for the withheld cost-of-living adjustment on base pay, distinguishing structural pay from ad-hoc increases during fiscal restraint.

I am not a BCGEU member but how can a 3.5% allowable rent⬆️ ( with rents avging $2600/mo for a 1 bdrm in Vancouver) be allowed yet you are offering substantially less of an ⬆️for union members. Even retired members were given a higher COLA than working members. Disconnect?

What's NOT sustainable is hemorrhaging the qualified talent we need in order to deliver those long term services because government workers cannot afford to live in the communities they serve. The govt is not bargaining in good faith, they're not bargaining at ALL. Shame on you.

Perhaps take advice from the developers that met with Eby. Pay the workers what they are worth and get back to work. A properly equipped and paid public service brings a prosperous Province.

I think the entire BC NDP caucus needs to take a step off their giant pedestals and remember what it’s like to have to work 2+ jobs to make ends meet. Oh wait, I’m betting they’ve never had to experience that. Good luck next election, your base is rapidly dwindling.

I'll be thankful when you return to the table with a realistic offer so I can feed my family.

The BCGEU is waiting for a fair offer from YOU. You showed up hours late to the last session, and presented the same low-ball offer. Time to pay your employees.

How are you going to sustain vital services when we are losing employees? We can’t retain or recruit, we are constantly running short staffed and burning out. And we are the ones looking after the mental health of vulnerable children and youth

Gaslighting. Incorrect claims. Words too big for general consumption. And SO old-school. Sit at the bargaining table, and use your words like an adult, without the petty gamesmanship.

Not to mention using you thanksgiving address to come for the bcgeu is desperate, sad and petty. The BC NDP really is a ghost of its former self.

It would be great if you would actually go to the bargaining table and bargain with the union, respecting your staff. Instead you are posting about wanting to bargain for the public to think that you are doing your job when you can’t even be bothered to show up. Shame on you.

PS you are betraying your historically-loyal base. They will find another way to vote. They WILL. Think about it.

As the party who prided themselves on being pro-union, pro-worker, and felt quite comfy holding campaign events at bcgeu headquarters, your party seem to be taking and standing by an intensely anti-union and anti-worker stance. I know I won't forget this next election.

If BC's government can't pay their employees a wage that allows them to afford rent in the province they are actively working to make a better place, that is absurd. MLAs make $120k a year. You don't even know what middle class *feels* like. Quit geeking and lock tf in.

Interesting, as they have been searching far & wide for you! 👇

Then get to the bargaining table and negotiate. Like you don’t get to just dictate what the wage increase will be. Also cut the mom voice. We need a serious government not another mom.

This beyond insincere. Your public service executives keep bankers hours and blow hundreds of thousands per year on helijet service, hotels, and months of paid holiday. Let’s not even start with the MLAs and the crown corp executives. We should toss the lot of you.

Perhaps you should invite them back to the table….. oh and when you do, show up on time and don’t make them wait 3hours

Why is she whispering like she’s hiding in a bathroom or something?

👇

It is reprehensible that you aren’t back at the table. It’s a horrid look for a government that blew through a budget surplus and now says it can’t afford to offer a decent wage Please get back to the table and end this strike

Easy for you to say when your total compensation is $178,461… the amount the union is asking for is roughly $1 more an hour.

Maybe you can take back the 22% raise that upper management received when the NDP got reelected and reallocate it to the employees doing the day to day work.

You happily accepted the huge salary increase from @Dave_Eby you then turn around and said the taxpayers will not be receiving the $1000 promised by Eby, so are you saying we have money for us but not anyone else When do you represent the taxpayers and not the @BCNDPCaucus

She is so out of touch with reality… Says she “wants to come to the table” but the last time she did, they were three hours late and did not offer anything more. We have gone long enough without fair compensation. Ms. Bailey needs to resign

You are corrupt and need to be fired

How about you treat the BCGEU Union with respect, return to the negotiations tables and maybe you should try this time around to show some respect and not make the union wait for 3 hours before you remember that you invited them back to negotiate??!! +0.5% is NOT ACCEPTABLE!

Cut the BCNDP salaries by 50%.

You took a $6B surplus and quickly turned it into a $10B deficit. What makes it worse? We have very little to show for it. You gutted the resource sector and naively chased away investment completely oblivious to what that would do to British Columbians.

This strike has been ongoing for 40 days. And this is the best you’ve got? Come on, Brenda. Our workers need living wages.

If it’s a priority, ask BCGEU back to the table. Actions speak louder than words.

BCNDP have destroyed B.C.

Hopefully she’s not late for dinner like she was late to the bargaining table! There won’t be any turkey left Brenda hurry!

Besides people's wages, what else are you cutting? Most public sector wages end up back in community anyways. Are economic multipliers not something your Ministry considers anymore?

You claim you're interested in finding a path forward - yet you're hiding from the bargaining process. Get back to the table, and this time don't stroll in 3 hours late. Shameful.

🚨ANDREW TATE: I DON’T THINK I HAVE A FAIR SHOT IN BRITISH COURTS “I don’t believe I have a fair shot in British courts because if all the members of Parliament say I’m a problem that needs to vanish, it’s clear that I won’t get a fair trial. No Romanian MEP has ever said that about me. No Romanian member of Parliament has said that about me. And look how I suffered here. We can apply this to any country.” Source: Andrew Tate
