Former failed minister from Maumoon era Aneesa passionately advocating abolishing independent state institutions and parliament. And instead encouraging people to take every problem directly to King Guizzu (Gui Muizzu), as though Guizzu alone can provide all solutions. Aneesa is promoting a system where everything revolves around Guizzu’s personal benevolence and mood, weakening institutions and normalising a culture of dependency in which people are expected to approach Guizzu and ask for what they need. Aneesa becomes visibly uncomfortable when people (such as MohamedShahzan last night) raise systemic issues such as large scale corruption. Corruption refers to the misuse of taxpayer money, awarding projects to friends and family without open bidding, inflating project costs, giving jobs through favouritism instead of merit. But Aneesa does not want these issues discussed. Aneesa believes talking about corruption is making things political. Aneesa doesn’t believe giving jobs and lands to people based on personal loyalty is corruption cause thats what Maumoon did for 30 years. Aneesa also benefited massively from this. Aneesa became rich. So she wants people to bypass conversations about institutional failures and corruption and simply go to Guizzu with their personal requests. For example, rather than allowing the public to question accusations of unfair hiring practices at HDC, Aneesa’s preferred approach is for individuals to personally appeal to Muizzu and ask him for a job.
