After squeezing a relatively heavy weight for about 30 seconds, the hamstring muscle relaxes and the strain shifts to the tendon. Stronger tendons equal more force production, fewer injuries, and better running performance. It’s super simple. Hold a heavy fixed position for 30-60 seconds, then repeat for multiple sets if it’s a problem area. You can do these every day, multiple times a day. Isometrics are a game changer.

Coates has had a lengthy battle with an achilles issue - he indicated a partial tear was discovered post season 2025 that he attempted to rehab for months. Then he underwent surgery earlier this year to remove a bone spur & bursa around the achilles. Now worst case scenario with a complete tendon rupture. Achilles repair surgery usually involves a 5-8 month recovery period - one of the toughest rehab processes & players often take even longer to return to their best. I was at today’s meeting and want to echo Ashley’s post: I was told an interview with CEO Ian Choudri would not be possible *if* it touched at all on the circumstances surrounding his arrest and leave of absence. To be clear, Choudri was not charged, and the board later cleared him to return. But I felt I still had to ask about the situation and whether it served as a distraction for the project. In fairness to the HSR comms team who have been very communicative, an interview with Choudri was offered to me — but limited strictly to the project itself. As a journalist, it is a tough spot to be in. Our coverage will stay focused on the business plan, but I wanted to share this context.

Cameron Murray is training hard & hoping to return to play for the Rabbitohs sometime before the season is over. Murray underwent achilles repair surgery in February after suffering a rupture at training & then required another procedure in April to address a post operative infection. If he is able to prove his fitness for a few regular season games he would be returning 6 months post surgery - usual recovery range in the NRL is 5-8 months.

Here’s a back angle of the same play. This is a clean play IMO. I see some mild contact here, but no tackle “from behind” is performed which has been alluded to by some. Jakob is not a dirty player and has never proven to be. Kuithe plants with his left leg at the top of the route and you see a slight buckling inward of the left knee (valgus force which is typical in ACL tears.) This is normal contact with a TE/DB at the top of a route. Jakob disengages with his body after the initial contact. It appears to be a left knee injury. Possibly an ACL tear with some collateral damage based off the mechanism. Kuithe begins to hobble after the plant and eventually falls to the turf. Kuithe, in 2022 suffered an ACL injury and meniscus tear to his right knee. Data shows that once you’ve had an ACL Injury, there is a higher risk of injuring your opposite knee than your reconstructed knee. Furthermore, there is increasing data supporting the elevated risk of ACL injuries correlated to turf as well as style and type of cleats. My heart goes out to Kuithe.
