You guys have the coolest accents, for me it’s the best sounding but I’m biased

Youngsters accent and slangs sound retarded though

@Playboyb882 Let’s take the most disadvantaged as our baseline 🙃, compared to those who had the privilege of a proper education at home and in school. I can’t sit here and judge the less fortunate, because I fully recognize they didn’t have the same opportunities that I had

@Playboyb882 It’s not just the slang. Older Dominicans even the ones who barely finished school generally spoke cleaner Spanish. The drop in accent and language quality didn’t happen in a vacuum. It came with the same decline in standards, discipline, and cultural seriousness.

@Playboyb882 The people doing great things and behaving properly simply don't get the same exposure

Fair points on the internet amplifying the worst and on survival mode being real for a lot of people. But poverty and broken homes don’t automatically produce the specific behaviors we’re seeing. Plenty of poor countries and poor communities don’t normalize the same levels of disorder, public vulgarity, or short term thinking. The issue isn’t just lack of resources. It’s also what gets rewarded culturally, what’s tolerated in the home and on the street, and how little shame exists around certain patterns once they become normalized. The people doing things the right way do exist in large numbers. The problem is that the culture increasingly treats them as the exception instead of the standard.

You mentioned what gets rewarded culturally, but we as a society are the ones rewarding and reinforcing it. It is not the government doing this. I do not mean to single you out, but by focusing so much on the negative, you are doing exactly that. This cultural shift is happening everywhere, including the US, Europe, and other Latin American countries. The difference is that those places have better education systems in place, so the majority of their people are not easily dragged down or influenced by what the uneducated minority does

You’re right that society itself plays a role in what gets rewarded, and that this isn’t only a government issue. That’s a fair point. I also agree that cultural shifts toward lower standards are happening in many places, not just the Dominican Republic. Where I see it differently is on two things. First, pointing out a real problem is not the same as reinforcing it. Silence doesn’t fix declining standards, clarity does. If we avoid naming what’s being normalized, it becomes even harder to push back against it. Second, while stronger education systems help, they don’t fully explain the difference. Plenty of educated people still adopt and promote the same short term, low discipline behaviors when the culture around them rewards it. Education matters, but so do the norms that decide what is considered acceptable, respectable, or aspirational. The majority still tries to do things the right way. The challenge is making sure that majority sets the standard, instead of quietly adapting to the loudest minority.

Aunque you hablo "correcto" a mi se me sale esa "i" mi amoi que pa' te cuento, mi mai.

Sino no te van a entender...
