I think kind of lost in last night's game was the fact that Rudy Gobert had 8 assists. Gobert was great on the short roll the whole series, which was critical for him to be in this series, given how Denver likes to play Nikola Jokic up the floor, at the level of the screen. Asked Gobert about the assists, kinda jokingly, after he'd joked about Mike Conley having 6 rebounds. But he gave a great answer here, I thought, about his focus on offense being about creating advantages for his teammates -- through both passing and screening.

Wolves GM Matt Lloyd on drafting Joan Beringer and his personality fit as a “good dude” “I didn’t know what to expect when we sat down with him… he’s about as mature a person as you find, and I think that’s why… the two(Gobert) of them will hit it off. Gobert will be saying you can’t eat this, you can’t eat this, you gotta do this and he’ll fold him into his routine and it’ll serve Joan well. Rudy Gobert continues to be one of the more underrated players in this league.” More: “He knows who he is, he knows how he impacts the game…once he blasted their team in the locker room the game before our game, I thought ‘oh shit’”. "They know not to look to me for sympathy if Rudy drops one of their passes, because sometimes he's going to. I tell them to keep throwing em. We have to. It pays off more than not... I'll take some of those turnovers if we're trying to make the right play."

Gobert was asked after the game if that snub gave him more juice in tonight's game. "No extra juice. I know who I am. Not the first time I get disrespected, probably not the last. I'm gonna keep being myself. If they wanna disrespect greatness, take it for granted, whatever, sooner or later they'll realize the impact."

Liked this line: "He has no bad NBA habits. He's as pure as they come when it comes to that. Which is great because we can now teach him exactly what we want to teach him."

From what I saw live and from the replays, Klay Thompson initiated the whole thing by grabbing at Jaden McDaniels’ collar, which led Jaden to fight back and “defend himself.” Rudy Gobert came in and attempted to break things up, he wrapped Klay up, but there didn’t seem to be any ill intent. After all, Gobert is 7’1” and Klay is 6’7” — their shoulders are on two different planes. All ejections that did happen were the right call and necessary for the referees to keep the game under control. Couldn’t disagree with Coach Kerr anymore.
