I understand a mother will do anything for her baby but I also don't think that was the best she could do... I think having a child seriously changes the way you think and perceive things.. And as people we think of random scenarios to solve and at least look for the best answers all the time.. Whether I have to sacrifice myself or not, I will always make sure my child is out of harms way which requires a lot of quick decision making and on the fly choices....

And as an American born citizen, it's always been my understanding that I have that protection under the constitution… But today, the way that I was treated for simply doing my job, the way that I have been criminalized and dehumanized, it makes me really, really wonder if our constitution is something of the past and if it's just a thing made up of empty promises.

The importance of giving back is something I learned from my parents. They taught my siblings and me that we had a responsibility to help make life better for others, in whatever way we could. What I love most about giving back is how it can deepen our connection to each other and to our communities—something I think many of us need right now. And best of all, anyone can be a giver, because everyone has something to offer the world. Giving Tuesday is just around the corner, and I can’t wait to share more about my plans. Stay tuned 😊

Winning isn’t all that and neither is losing. It’s just something that happens. It’s the outcome. What really matters is the effort you put in and the journey you go through. I would say: Take a break if you’ve been stuck in something for too long. That’s actually why I stepped away for a while. I literally retired, and it was the best thing I could have done for myself. Through that retirement, I realized that I’m a bit of a creative person. I have ideas, my own sense of fashion, and I can be a little stubborn about it. So I came back to share all of my art. I love choreography and moving to music. I love to dance, and I do it on my own terms, no one tells me what to do. Even now, I still take breaks. And I think that’s the best way to do it. — Alysa Liu.

One of the best pieces of advice I ever got in my Jiu-Jitsu journey… When I was a blue belt juvenile, some of my training partners kept saying I was using too much strength. In my mind, I didn’t think I was. My instructor came to talk to me and asked, “Bernardo, are you using too much strength?” I said, “I guess so, since everyone is saying it.” Then he asked, “Are you getting tired?” I told him, “No, I have good cardio and I have been training and lifting a lot.” He looked at me and said, “Then keep using your strength.” That advice stayed with me forever. For me, the main lesson is simple. In Jiu-Jitsu, the right thing is whatever works for you. If you are doing something and it works, do not let anyone tell you it is wrong or that you should change it. Whatever works is the right way. What are your thoughts?

I hate when the way now is downgraded because the way then way downgraded the exact same way. I lived through it so I'm smart enough to see this. I think this is the simplest thing in the world and for whatever reason I constantly get people who can't grasp it." - Dave Meltzer

I feel like every time I looked up in 2025 I was reminded of my “why?” My “why” is to try to tell the truth in a way that lets you recognize your own story. It is to honor where I came from while still trying to build something that is bigger than me. It is to use my voice in a way that bridges the gap between the hurt and the healing. It is to take the meaning out of the Whirlwind instead of being swallowed by it. Music ain’t just something I do. It’s how I try to make sense of the world… and since I have yet to make complete sense of the world, I guess I’ll be doing this til the day I can’t. 🩵 Here is to another year of learning that momentum is a gift and not guaranteed. That when dreams move faster than you do, stay rooted and let the Lord carry you. Here is the bird’s eye view of 2025. 🐤 To sum it up, we bent it over our knee and wore its little a$$ out.

I think the show itself is better. I think there's something in this that allows me to like stay in my life while I'm doing it and therefore I think allows me to take care of myself better, which I think makes me better at doing the thing. It's not like I'm saying I'll never travel again, but I want to see what it looks like if you do it a different way. And you know, people in my band have like families now and kids and some aspect of that, too.
