Historically immigrants have always assimilated into American culture & embraced American national identity. New wave of migrants, especially Muslims, don’t assimilate. Islam is not a race.. it is a political ideology that seeks to conquer & is antithetical to western values.. Islam hasn’t yet reached critical mass in America so it is not ready to flex its muscles.. we must look to Europe to see how the non-assimilating Islamic migrants has worked out for them & it is a disaster. The main problems with the statements you're making is the fallacy of equivocation. You're continually switching back and forth from 'culture' to 'religion' while attempting to make your points. Statement breakdown: 1) Cultural (values, customs, behaviours, arts) 2) Religious (system of beliefs, practices & rituals) 3) Cultural (see above) 4) Religious (see above) 5) Religious (see above) If the major differences are not clear, "Chinese" is not a man-made religion like Islam is, and while Americans have no problem "celebrating and embracing cultural roots" that's different from expecting Americans to 'celebrate and embrace all religions,' especially when the elephant in the room is Islam, which is a religio-political system (religion & political ideology combined), and that sets it apart from all other man-made religions, and from Christianity. Similarly, even though many Islamic countries are open to people of all races and cultures living in them (especially if they become a Muslim), even those countries do not 'celebrate and embrace all religions,' only Islam. So perhaps you're thinking, 'that's what makes America so free.' Exactly, America has more freedom than a country under Sharia because it's not under Sharia, nor has it been Islamized to the point of where some other Western countries have been so far. And when you said, "America has nothing to do with being a Christian," that's true in that you don't have to be a Christian to live in America, but that doesn't change the fact that America's founding documents were based on Judeo-Christian principles, and for anyone who doesn't know, full Sharia (the goal of Islam) is not compatible with the Constitution & Bill of Rights. Speaking of those founding documents, they are not infringed upon when a Muslim prays five times a day, nocturnally feasts during Ramadan, or makes a trip to Mecca. Those things also do not infringe upon the rights of non-Muslim Americans either. Why? Because they are the religious aspects of Isam that Muslims are welcome to practice in America, however, the political aspects of Islam, and elements of Sharia that affect the lives of non-Muslims, is what freedom-loving Americans have a problem with. I think if you asked every freedom-loving American to simply & plainly state what, "Assimilate or LEAVE" means to them it would simply be: In reference to 'assimilation': 1) Embrace American freedom and don't attempt to change it, while celebrating your culture and practicing your religion as long as it does not infringe upon the rights of others. 2) Embrace America's founding documents and don't attempt to change them, while celebrating your culture and practicing your religion as long as it does not infringe upon the rights of others. And if a person who came into America (legally or illegally) is not willing to do those two things, they should 'leave' and go to a country that already has their non-freedom established for them. In closing, your last statement of "You're better off having Muslim neighbors" is ONLY possibly true if those neighbors are 'assimilating' (Points 1 & 2) as already described above, and as for your 2016 interview clip of Van Jones, who is not an authority on Islam in any way, when he says, "model American community," the keyword there is 'American,' in other words, those who are are 'assimilating' (Points 1 & 2), because his description of a 'model American community' exists in one place, AMERICA, because the descriptives he gave are certainly non-existent in many countries if you leave America.
