What is a software factory? It is your workflow, your skills, and your domain knowledge, saved in files that the agent reads so the whole process is productized Think about the last app you built. You typed what you wanted, and the agent built it. You did not like it, so you made changes. You shipped it to Vercel, or you kept going. A factory puts structure on each of those steps. At each step you ask how to get the most from the model, and how to move faster. That is the conveyor belt. You ship quickly, and the quality stays the same. Mine is 5 md files. Right now, I have a few dozen tools to automate my life. Every single thing that I do more than once every week is now a tool: either a Claude Code skill, a scheduled workflow, or an application. • I spend the time doing this once. • I schedule it. • I forget about it (or at least, try to) CREAO is one of the platforms I've used extensively for building some of these automations. My agent is now paying for its own data. No API key. No account. No credit card. Check the video I recorded. This uses the x402 open protocol built by Coinbase, along with a simple skill. This is an open protocol governed by the Linux Foundation. To complete a goal, an agent can now search for an actor on the Apify Store, pay for it, and use it without any human intervention. The way it works is pretty simple: 1. Your agent finds an Actor it wants to use 2. It sends a request 3. The Actor sends back an HTTP 402 "Payment Required" response 4. Agent authorizes payment from a wallet in USDC on Base 5. The Actor runs 6. User receives the result The model is pay-as-you-go: the agent authorizes a spending ceiling, pays only for usage, and the remaining balance is automatically settled. A software factory is 5-6 markdown files that sit next to your code and tell your agents how you like to work, so you can build high quality apps 24/7. It's going viral because AI coding has a trust problem. The model can build the feature, but with no structure around it you end up babysitting the agent, wondering what changed and hoping it didn't break something important. So you build with agents the same way a factory builds physical products! 1. Each feature gets its own station, which in software means its own branch, so multiple agents can work at the same time without stepping on each other. 2. The build station gives the agent rules for how to write the code, because "it works" is very different from "a developer could open this repo next month and understand what happened." 3. The proof station makes the agent show evidence. Screenshots, videos, speed numbers, before-and-after states. It has to prove the thing works instead of saying it works. 4. The review station runs the work through a code review agent, and if it doesn't clear the bar, it goes back through the line. 5. Then you show up at the end to merge. For a 100+ years people have run production this way, and it worked because the structure is good. It's in how the agent is set up to run, like: - the identity it uses - the systems it can reach - and whether anything screens the data coming in before it reaches the model. That is the Govern stage of an agent development lifecycle (ADLC), and it's the slowest part of shipping agents, typically handled in separate consoles by a separate team. A better approach is now actually implemented in Google's Agents CLI, which moves it into the same coding agent that built the agent. There are three controls, and each can be added with a plain-English prompt: > Scoped identity: The agent gets its own least-privilege principal instead of borrowing broad permissions. > Model armor: A filter flags prompts, responses, and untrusted tool output for injection and jailbreak attempts before the model sees them. > Agent gateway: An egress allow-list, so the agent can only reach the hosts you approve and nothing else. This is literally the easiest way to build an AI agent. Zero code. You only need to run a couple of commands. (I've said this before, but Google ADK is my favorite way to build code-first agents.) Here is what you need to do: 1. Open your terminal and create an empty folder 2. Run `uv init` inside the folder (if you don't have uv installed, you are really missing out!) 3. Install the google-adk library using the following command: `uv add google-adk`. 4. At this point, you can use the ask to create your agent with a single command: `uv run adk create --type=config my_agent`. This will ask you a couple of questions, including your GEMINI_API_KEY (you can create one online). 5. The command above will create a my_agent/root_agent.yaml file. Open it and add the following two lines at the end of the file so your agent can use Google to search for stuff: tools: - name: google_search 6. You have everything you need now.
