Inching closer to .500 at 30–31 and a top-six spot in the standings, the energy in the building was noticeably livelier than usual for a matinee game. This footage of the 1913 FA Cup Final between Sunderland and Aston Villa is extraordinary. SAFC were going for the double (and would go on to win the League), while Villa finished in second place - but won the Cup. Ironically, the only goal of the game was scored by Tommy Barber who grew up near Barrack Road in Newcastle.
