When an astronaut squeezes a wet cloth in space, the water doesn't drip off as it would on Earth. Instead, it forms a bubble around the cloth due to the surface tension of the water. This fascinating phenomenon is a result of the microgravity environment in space, where there is little to no gravity to pull the water away from the cloth.

So astronaut Don Pettit used physics to fix it. He designed a special cup that uses surface tension and capillary flow to guide the liquid along the cup’s edges and into the drinker’s mouth - no gravity, no straw, no spills. It’s 3D-printable, works with any liquid, and proves that fluid dynamics can make space coffee feel just a bit more human. Source: ABC
