Multiple units... were assigned, and firefighters immediately began fire suppression operations while working to evacuate the structure. Crews encountered significant fire conditions in the attic space. Through coordinated and determined efforts, firefighters brought the fire under control by 11:48 a.m. There were no reported injuries to civilians or firefighters. The Charlotte Fire Investigation Task Force determined the fire to be an accidental attic fire. Estimated property and contents loss is approximately $50,000. The call came in at 12:51 a.m. during last night’s severe storm. Firefighters arrived with visible fire along the roofline and controlled the fire in 40 minutes. No injuries were reported. Upon arrival, we had heavy fire on the second, third, fourth floor, and through the roof. Due to the amount of fire and the structural stability of the building, we removed our members and attacked the fire from the exterior, from the front and the rear with large caliber streams. The rear of this building is on the water, so we called in Marine 9, and we used some of their large caliber streams to extinguish the fire,” said Chief of Operations Kevin Woods. FDNY Fire Marshals are working to determine the cause of the fire.
