Strip out the two you got for naming Vermont post offices and you're looking at, generously, about one meaningful bill becoming law every decade. So which is it: are Vermont taxpayers getting robbed for that salary, or is the incompetence worth every penny for the entertainment value? Genuinely asking. Let's talk about Jane for a second, since by most accounts she's the one actually running the show behind the curtain (never officially campaign chair, that credit went to other guys, but read the reporting yourself). She ran Burlington College straight into the ground. Ten million dollars for lakefront property, financed on donor pledges that turned out to be nowhere close to what the bank was told. The school defaulted within months, landed on accreditation probation, and shut its doors for good in 2016. She walked away with roughly $200,000 on her way out the door. The FBI and DOJ looked into whether the numbers were cooked to get that loan approved. No charges filed, for what it's worth, though plenty of paperwork questions never got a real answer. Then $80 million of your 2016 campaign's ad money ran through a firm staffed by her longtime associates. Asked about it directly, she said she had "no idea" what the company even was. Sure, Jane. That's not campaign strategy, that's mountebankery with a nonprofit filing. You want to talk about somebody who doesn't pull their weight? Go ask the folks at Myrtle Hill Farm. 1971. You showed up, talked politics nonstop for three straight days, never lifted a finger to help, and got politely asked to move along.
