At first, I was angry about Danielle Smith’s referendum question. It felt like Alberta independence supporters were being denied the direct yes-or-no vote many of us wanted. But after cooling down, I started to see the strategy. If we cannot win a vote on whether Albertans should even have...

The recent Court of King’s Bench decision struck down the specific independence petition initiated by Mitch Sylvester, but it does not end the possibility of an Alberta independence referendum. The authority to place an independence question on the October 19, 2026 referendum ballot remains with Alberta’s cabinet under the Referendum Act. The legal foundation for a province’s right to vote on independence comes from the 1998 Supreme Court of Canada secession reference, not from the Clarity Act or any single citizen petition process. This decision is narrow, technical, and expected to be appealed. The broader democratic question remains unchanged: Albertans have the right to decide their future.

🌹👋🇨🇦⚖️ : Danielle Smith says one judge appointed by Justin Trudeau shouldn't be able to eliminate the rights of 700,000 Albertans who signed on to have a referendum on independence. If Smith fights as hard for the referendum as she has against carbon taxes and for building pipelines, the referendum vote will never happen. Smith does warn the court ruling could dramatically change how Alberta is governed.

The Alberta independence question is here, but the path forward is more complicated than many expected. The instinct is to move directly to a clear independence vote. But the Sylvestre decision has changed the legal landscape and created a serious risk that an immediate up-or-down vote could be challenged before Albertans ever get a final say. The goal has not changed. Alberta still needs a clear vote on a clear question. What has changed is the route to get there. A two-step process may now be the most realistic way to protect the vote, build support, and give the independence movement time to organize properly. The fight is not over. It is becoming more serious.

🌹🗳️👋🇨🇦 : Danielle Smith will hold a referendum asking if Alberta should have a referendum on independence. I warned Alberta separatists repeatedly the government would drag this referendum out for years. Meanwhile Mark Carney will grant citizenship to hundreds of thousands of new arrivals, who will vote to remain in Canada so they can bring their extended family over. The government will never let you leave Canada because you pay the bills.

At the Forever Canada rally in Red Deer, one of Thomas Lukaszuk’s people followed me through the crowd and said he was there to “protect” me. I wasn’t sure how to take that, so we joked about it a little. But then we talked about something serious. A few days earlier in Edmonton, a Forever Canada supporter attacked an Alberta independence supporter who was peacefully waving his flag on the side of the road. The man tried to rip the flag away and pushed him toward traffic. That could have ended very badly. We both agree that that kind of behavior is wrong, and the person responsible should be in jail. That matters. We can disagree about Alberta independence. We can debate equalization, immigration, pipelines, federal control, Ottawa, the constitution, and the future of this province. But political violence has no place in this debate. Peaceful Albertans have every right to wave a flag, support a referendum, ask questions, and advocate for Alberta independence without being assaulted or threatened. But that is where we are at right now in Alberta. Full video:

I think the strongest part of Option 2 is also the simplest: we don’t have to agree on independence yet. October 19 isn’t the independence vote. It’s our opportunity to give Alberta leverage and find out what Canada is actually prepared to offer when Ottawa understands that Albertans have another option. Maybe they finally come to the table with meaningful change. Maybe they don’t. I have my suspicions, but I’m willing to find out. And if the offer isn’t good enough? Then we keep going. We have the next referendum, and Albertans make that decision with far more information in front of them. So I genuinely don’t understand the hostility around this. Unless you believe the status quo is working just fine, why would we give away our strongest negotiating position before we’ve even had the chance to use it? October 19. Vote Option 2. Give Alberta the strongest hand possible, and let’s see what Canada puts on the table. 💙 #LetAlbertaDecide #Option2 #AlbertaIndependence #Alberta #October19

We need to have a National Referendum on Immigration in America. One Question: "Do you want unlimited third-world migration into your neighborhoods? Yes or No?" Put it to a vote. See what the results are. This is probably a 100 to 0 issue. Our leaders won't do it and can't do it because they know what the answer would be.

🚨 We're launching an Alberta independence campaign — and this is why we had to do it We’re going 'all in' on the independence referendum on October 19. I have major news to share with you. We are officially launching Act For Alberta — a legally registered third-party campaign group supporting the Alberta independence petition drive, which is ending on May 2, 2026. When Alberta independence goes to a referendum later this Fall, Act for Alberta will also be there. "Third party" doesn't mean we're forming a political party. Think of it as a SuperPAC: the same kind of organization we've set up federally for past elections. In Alberta, this registration is the only legal path for us toadvertise in support of Alberta independence, both during the petition drive, and during this Fall’s referendum. If we don't register, Elections Alberta can — and will — prosecute us. So: reason number one is legal protection. Act for Alberta will advocate fearlessly in favour of the Yes campaign, you know the bureaucrats would come for us otherwise. Reason number two is that the mainstream media, and the entire establishment — every major political party, every major media outlet, every union, every TV talk show — is going to go to war against Alberta. Alberta is about to be overrun by pro-Liberal, pro-Carney, anti-Alberta propaganda. Someone needs to fight back. Reason number three is even more simple: we genuinely believe in this independence referendum, and we believe Albertans should have their say. Two weeks ago, a citizens' petition with more than 170,000 signatures was submitted to trigger a constitutional referendum on Alberta independence. I love the idea of a referendum. Let the people speak! There are issues that politicians refuse to touch because they're too scared or politically correct — and Alberta independence is exactly the kind of thing ordinary people talk about privately that official people are terrified to mention publicly. Now, ordinary people get a vote, even if politicians are afraid. This is your chance to be part of it. Please visit our website at right now to learn more and find out how you can help — before this campaign really heats up. Here’s what's at stake. Quebec has had two independence referendums — the last one came within 0.5% of passing — and no one called them traitors for it. The Supreme Court of Canada has confirmed these votes are legal. Parliament passed the Clarity Act specifically to govern how such a vote works. And yet when Albertans ask for the same democratic remedy, the regime media calls it treason, and government lawyers line up to say why only Quebec gets those votes, not Albertans. Why the double standard? Because the establishment makes a very good living off Alberta, and they will say and do anything to protect that arrangement. Alberta sends $20 billion a year to Ottawa — only to have its pipelines blocked, its oil tankers banned (while OPEC tankers sail freely into eastern ports), and its workers ruled out of senior federal jobs for not speaking French. Here's the question I keep coming back to: if Alberta were its own country today, would it vote to join Ottawa on these terms? I doubt it. Visit to see how we're going to make that case. going to fight on the Yes side using real professional campaign tools: TV ads, digital ads, our billboard truck, and public events. Because every powerful institution in Canada has already lined up against this referendum. Alberta needs a fearless, unapologetic voice on the other side. That's us. We need your help. Please go to to join us. The independence referendum is October 19th, barely six months away. Elections Alberta bureaucrats would love nothing more than to prosecute Rebel News for daring to speak up during this campaign. So we registered Act For Alberta as a third-party campaign group. Now they can't touch us. We're going all in - stand with us. This is the exact playbook Quebec used — twice. The separatist Bloc Québécois has sat in Parliament for decades and no one blinks. The Parti Québécois is currently leading the polls in Quebec. But when Albertans ask for the same democratic conversation, the regime calls it treason. That double standard is exactly why this referendum matters — and why we're fighting for it. Alberta sends $20 billion to Ottawa every year. In return: blocked pipelines, cancelled LNG projects, banned oil tankers, and sneers at us because they think Alberta has nowhere else to go. Well, now Alberta does have somewhere else to go. The U.S. has already said they'd buy Alberta oil if Alberta were independent.

As the Mayors of Alberta’s largest cities, we are standing up against the referendum for a referendum and encouraging Albertans to vote this October. Leaving Canada would create uncertainty for Alberta’s economy, threaten jobs and investment, and put at risk the quality of life we’ve worked so hard to build. Our country is stronger together. The diversity of our people, communities, and regions is one of our greatest strengths. On October 19, stand up against the referendum for a referendum and vote for a strong Alberta in a strong Canada

It is a responsibility... People will decide the result of the elections. We cannot ask people who to vote for, all we can do is ask them to vote- for the future and welfare of the country. and to decide on an able leader for the country. I met an Albertan today who liked the idea of independence but felt overwhelmed by everything that would need to be figured out. Then something clicked: We don’t have to settle every question before October 19. This first referendum is non-binding. Option 2 gives Alberta the opportunity to strengthen its hand and see what Canada is actually prepared to put on the table. Maybe that’s meaningful constitutional reform. Maybe Ottawa offers very little. Either way, we learn something before deciding what comes next. You don’t need to know exactly where the road ends to give Alberta the strongest hand possible. Vote Option 2. #LetAlbertaDecide #Option2

POLL: Nearly half of First Nations voters in Alberta back independence A poll commissioned by @ActForAlberta found 46% of First Nations respondents said they'd vote to leave Canada in a referendum on independence. Sheila Gunn Reid shares details from a poll commissioned by Act For Alberta, which found 46% of First Nations respondents would support independence if a referendum were held on the matter. For months, we’ve been told Alberta independence is fringe. That Indigenous people oppose it. That claim is doing a lot of work right now, especially in court. And then this lands: Nearly half of indigenous voters support independence. Someone tell the activist chiefs — the narrative just blew apart. According to exclusive polling commissioned by Act For Alberta, and full disclosure, I’m the listed contact for that third-party advertiser, 46% of First Nations respondents say they would vote to leave Canada. Nearly half. That's higher than support in the general Alberta population, which sits at one in three. That alone should force a rethink. Now layer this on top: 301,000 signatures, collected by 7,000 volunteers. In a long, bitterly cold Alberta winter. And what happens next? They don’t get verified. Not counted. Not certified. They're stopped, wrapped in evidence tape like some crime scene because a judge has issued a stay blocking the validation process while a legal challenge from First Nations groups plays out. So, line this up. Nearly half of First Nations respondents are open to independence. But activist chiefs claiming to speak for all Indigenous Albertans want to protect the failing federalist status quo, not just for their people, but for all of us. Hundreds of thousands of Albertans signed a petition to at least ask the question. And the activist chiefs involved in the lawsuit are asking the court to freeze the process before it reaches a result. That’s the moment we’re in. A political question with massive public engagement, halted before it could be measured. There’s a gap here. Between what’s being argued in court by gatekeepers and what people are actually saying when you ask them directly. And it is not a small gap. Indigenous communities are not one voice. Albertans are not one voice. That is the whole point of a vote. Everyone gets their say on referendum day. So, here’s the question that does not go away: if the answer is so obvious, why not let the process finish? Why not count the signatures and drop the lawsuit? Why not let people speak? Because once it becomes one person, one vote, the outcome is not controlled anymore, and the narrative is shattered for good.

🚨 HOLY CRAP! Sen. Mike Lee goes on a MIDNIGHT CRUSADE in the Senate for the SAVE America Act, dropping straight TRUTH on every senator in the chamber "We need to make it easy to vote and hard to cheat, and we need to do that by making sure that people establish their citizenship and therefore their eligibility to vote when they register and that they show who they are when they show up on election day!" "This isn't hard. This isn't unusual. Every country in the entire WORLD, countries you're familiar with, countries you're not. Countries is wide ranging as Mexico, Brazil, India, Argentina, Peru, Botswana, Burundi." "They all have voter ID requirements. We do NOT." "We do not want to leave this amount of power sitting on the table so that foreign powers can send forth people who are not eligible to vote in this country and vote anyway." "We need to do this. The House of Representatives has passed the SAVE America Act. We now have the opportunity to vote on that same bill, the SAVE America Act here." "This bill, Mr. President, will disenfranchise no one. It will make us all more free. It will protect the sanctity, the dignity of your vote." "When we allow people who are not allowed to vote to vote, we rob Americans of their vote. Let's make it easy to vote, hard to cheat. Let's pass this bill." It ultimately got 50 VOTES, but needed 60. Nuke the filibuster!

Let's make it easy to vote, hard to cheat. Let's pass this bill." It ultimately got 50 VOTES, but needed 60. Nuke the filibuster!

301,000 Albertans demand independence vote as massive petition haul delivered to Elections Alberta🗳️ Alberta's independence movement surges forward amid widespread dissatisfaction with Mark Carney's Liberal government. More than 301,000 Albertans signed on the dotted line for a chance to vote on independence, and on Monday, those signatures were physically delivered to Elections Alberta in one of the largest citizen-driven political mobilizations in modern Alberta history. The petition, spearheaded by referendum proponent Mitch Sylvestre and organized through Stay Free Alberta (Stay Free Alberta), was carried to the Elections Alberta office by supporters after months of canvassing across the province, each box bearing a photo of canvassers in action. According to organizers, nearly 7,000 volunteers helped gather the signatures during the depths of a bitter Alberta winter, knocking on doors, setting up tables at events, and driving countless rural backroads to collect names from Albertans demanding a say on the province’s future inside Confederation. The number to trigger a referendum under Alberta's citizen-led initiative rules was 177,732, or 10% of the votes cast in the 2023 general election. If certified by Elections Alberta, the petition would trigger a provincewide referendum on Alberta independence set for October 19, 2026. The boxes containing the petitions were wrapped in evidence tape upon delivery, a reflection of the increasingly high-stakes political and legal fight surrounding the initiative. A court challenge launched on behalf of a small group of activist Indigenous chiefs is attempting to stop the referendum process before Albertans ever get the chance to cast a ballot. But supporters say the sheer scale of the petition effort sends a message Ottawa can no longer ignore: dissatisfaction in Alberta is no longer something that can be ignored. Sheila Gunn Reid

Quebec gets it. Bloc Québécois House Leader Christine Normandin was asked about Alberta separation and the referendum question. The reporter kept pressing. She refused the bait. Her answer was simple: She is not Albertan. Ottawa is not Albertan. Albertans decide. She even warned against “Papa Ottawa” talking down to people with disdain. For once, I agree with the Bloc. You do not have to support Alberta separation to understand the principle. If Albertans want to ask the question, it is Alberta’s question. Not Ottawa’s. Not federal politicians’. Not some managed national-unity script from people who helped create the anger in the first place.

Indyref 2014 was rigged, most of it happened in plain sight. Sara Salyers of Salvo.Scot explains how. "In a consultative referendum, an opinion poll, there's no contract, there's no actual requirement, which David Cameron did point out, to abide by the results of that referendum. "So they did not then set it up in the way that a proper constitutional referendum would have been set up according to international standards to begin with. "The people who would be voting in that referendum would be people who had a stake in the future of the nation whose future they were voting on. "We had every boy and his dog able to vote. So people who hadn't been in Scotland for, you know, more than maybe a few months, basically, all these people had a vote on the future of Scotland as an independent nation, which is, if you just think about it, think how absurd that is, people with no stake. "Now, had that been serious, you know, a real referendum, that we were going to be allowed to have a chance of winning, they would have applied international standards, they would have used something like the new Caledonia franchise, which is a really solid. "And it doesn't exclude people who've moved into Scotland. It isn't just ethnic Scots, it's, you know, it's people who have a genuine stake, interest in the future of that nation. That franchise, it shouldn't be a council... local council franchise, it should be one that reflects the stakeholders, who are the real stakeholders, and that's what that needs to be. That it wasn't, should have told us everything. "Then we had the Edinburgh Agreement, and the Edinburgh Agreement said that there was a Purdah period, during which no new policies were to be announced. There was no... you know, all the campaigning would go on and then it stops. You can rehearse the arguments and everything that's been put forward, but nothing new should be introduced. "Well, we got 'The Vow', 'Devo Max', less than two days before the vote. 'If you vote No, you will get this'. Of course, that did not deliver, but it completely breached the Edinburgh Agreement. "Well, what the sad afterwards was, 'Well, there's no evidence that it altered people's minds. Of course it did. Of course it told people, 'Well, if you don't want to go all the way to independence, we could have,' I think Gordon Brown said, 'it would be almost a federal relationship,' you know, blah, blah, blah. "And that that meant people could say, 'Well, if we're afraid of what will happen, afraid of being pulled out of the European Union, we'd like a lot more power, but we were not sure about a total break...'. Well, of course, then they voted No. "Then you also had the media. And in a properly run referendum, according to international rules, you make sure it's 50-50, that people get both sides of the argument, absolutely equally. "There was a full study done, and it took one guy, Glasgow University lecturer in particular, to go through everything and come back and say, 'Look, it was over 70%, 'No' media coverage', and that also breaches international standards. "So we didn't have any possibility of a fair referendum. And that wasn't coincidental. And had there been any kind of vote tampering, say, with the postal vote, because it was only consultative and there was no actual, therefore fraud, it makes it nearly impossible to get a judicial review. "And there is no way, no matter what they have said, no matter what they have told us, 'Get a majority of members elected to Westminster' and that 'You don't need a referendum', or if 'Scotland wants to leave, then it has the right to do so'. No matter what the British State has said, that was never true." Sara Salyers on the @untribalpol @TheScotCongress
