On Journalist's Day, we remember all the media workers killed by Russia. These are at least 125 Ukrainians. Some of them were killed while serving in the Ukrainian Defense Forces, others while performing their journalistic duties. May they rest in peace.

Our hearts break for the families of the fire victims at Hillside Endarasha Academy. As an educator and volunteer, having worked with children, I can only imagine how gut-wrenching this must be. May their souls rest in peace. May God grant their families a peace that surpasses all human understanding. May the orchestrators of this tragedy forever be haunted by their cries. May we work towards creating learning environments that are safe for every child. May God remain our everlasting portion. We remember them here in song. May it be a balm to your hearts. Our government has condemned in the strongest terms the appalling mistreatment of civilians, including Canadians, aboard the Gaza-bound flotilla. Today, in the House of Commons, I reiterated our government’s position. The safety and security of Canadians abroad will always be our top priority, and we will continue to engage directly with Israeli authorities at the highest levels on this matter.
