The Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, Guo Jiakun comments on the U.S. publicly announcing that they will not invite South Africa to participate in the G20 Summit next year as well as cooperation within the G20 framework. He says that China supports South Africa in continuing to participate in G20 cooperation. I thank former PM of New Zealand and Chair of International Democracy Union, The Rt Hon Stephen Harper, for the kind invitation. I conveyed the unwavering commitment of MDP Secretariat towards protecting the hard-earned democratic gains in #Maldives and supporting democracy worldwide. Our world is currently faced with a democratic decline, loss of confidence in democracy as a whole and new characteristic of authoritarianism taking root. At #IDUForum2024, I underscored the importance of working together to tackle these new challenges. Multilateralism, greater international cooperation and collaboration is the key to achieving a resilient, stable, prosperous and democratic future!

It was agreed that the 6th Trilateral Foreign Ministers’ Meeting will be held in Kabul at an early, mutually convenient date.
