As a Christian and physician, I am calling this a fraud. I don’t believe in miracles that physically harm people and destroy the body. Asceticism and masochism are never the same. This is distorted.

God provides enough evidence (Shroud of Turin, etc) of His existence for believers to latch onto with their faith but not so much that those who do not have faith and willingly turn away will see.
