You were suggesting Hub motor is a problem earlier and suddenly it's a solution. Pick a lane!

Every EV has issue the problem is less compared to Hub MOTOR as tyre are Tubeless. Even HUB motor has its pro and Cons Belt issue was creating major concern for Ather so they pivoted to Hub motor

But earlier you said Ather is better because they don't have Hub Motor. Today you post they are better because they have Hub motor. See the problem here?

I still stand by that. A belt is cheap and easy to replace; Ather's shift to a hub motor was more about reducing maintenance and complaints, not because belt drives are inherently bad.

In case of rear tire puncture - it will be a great hassle to fix it and regular mechanics can't do it - need expertise to fix the puncture. That a major drawback in TVS iQube which also has a hub motor.

Since Tire is tubeless it can be managed but in case of Significant damage to Tyre that's where the problem will increase

Calling this “reimagining the drivetrain” is a bit of a stretch. A belt drive and a hub motor are two fundamentally different architectures. A hub motor eliminates the belt, yes but it also comes with different engineering trade-offs, particularly around low-speed torque multiplication, thermal management and sustained performance, since there is no reduction gearing. They did for cost

It's not hub motor, it's swing arm mounted motor.

Konarc isn't hub motor, get your facts right.! It's swing arm mounted driven through gears & shafts.. Yes belt is removed doesn't automatically make it hub motor

This is not new. Ola is using Hub motor in few models since years. I am using Ola Air with hub motor with no issues 🤞🏻

Thanks..using since 2.5 yrs. No maintenance/service reqd apart from air check. Ride comfort and power is much better than Ather 😊

It's not a Hub motor it's swing arm (side mounted ) motor like you see on bajaj chetak and hero vida ather did not invent this is in use since first Bajaj chetak it uses mechanical reduction gear to provide power to wheel eliminating the belt or chain

Ather is not using hub motor in the Konarc. They are using a swing arm mounted motor. The power is transmitted through gears from the motor to the wheel.

Not all Ather have problem but Belt issue has been major concern

No belt to fix means no belt to fail. That's real problem-solving, not patchwork.

Sometimes the smartest solution is not fixing the problem but removing it altogether Ather Konarc is a great example of this mindset
