Obasanjo said he doesn't know Atiku Abubakar but it was the same Atiku who informed him that there were plans to arrest him by Gen. Sani Abacha. In fact, when Atiku was denied the Vice Presidential slot by MKO Abiola, he ensured that his political mentor Shehu Musa Yar'Adua who was upset about the choice of Babagana Kingibe supported Abiola by speaking to Olusegun Obasanjo to intervene so that his boss, Yar’Adua will not indulge in anti-party activities. So how did Atiku know Obasanjo to the extent of initiating a meeting between Yar’Adua and him to support MKO Abiola? How did Atiku know Obasanjo to the extent of informing him of the plot of Gen. Sani Abacha to arrest him? Thanks Dos Santos Politico

He came to me and said, 'Look, Atiku will kill him if Atiku wins; that we must support Asiwaju.' We then organized the G5 to go and pay Bala a visit in Bauchi, not knowing that he was using us to settle with Atiku.”

Peter Obi was the vice-presidential candidate to Atiku Abubakar in 2019; he was the one who led Atiku into the campaign in 2019. Then, from nowhere in 2027, after Atiku had brought you [Obi] into national politics, you are now creating the impression with your toxic followers that Atiku is not qualified to be president. – Kenneth Okonkwo, ADC Member #PoliticsToday

If only ADC big wigs & Atiku can just support him, we would witness the most closely contested presidential elections in the history of Nigeria. Atiku will not be president. And he knows it. Peter Obi will give Tinubu a run for his money. And I believe APC knows this. End.

“Peter Obi needs to talk to his people. I noticed a trend, and I'm surprised that we are going back to that again. I want to send a message to supporters of Obi: the earlier they realise that this is not about Obi but about the country, the better for them. For them to maintain a sustained attack on Atiku Abubakar is unacceptable. They keep attacking Atiku as if he's Tinubu.” — Oladimeji Fabiyi, aide to Atiku Abubakar

I was hoping at one time I would be able to work with Atiku but he's an impossible person to work with. He's full of himself, he’s not a good man and he doesn't see life in you if you are not a Fulani man. —Babachir Lawal

Any Coalition with Atiku Cannot Be on an Individual Level, I Have a Party Behind My Candidacy - Peter Obi I am a candidate representing a political party, and Atiku Abubakar is also a candidate representing a political party. Any alliance must be between parties, not between individuals. Atiku will not step down, and neither will I, because both of us have institutional support behind us and it is only the collective that can come together to create any alliance not me or Atiku Peter Obi, NDC Presidential Candidate

Atiku Doesn’t Have The Propensity To Step Down, Peter Obi Does - Ardo If Atiku says he is willing to step down, he would not have a problem with his support base. The challenge is that he is highly unlikely to do so. Peter Obi has the propensity to step down, but if he does, his support base may not be happy with him. These are the two key challenges, and unless we can resolve them, I don’t see a merger being possible. Umar Ardo, Political Strategist | Convener, League Of Northern Democrats

Fuel Subsidy: Atiku Abubakar in 2023 campaigned that the subsidy wasn't sustainable. It wasn't good for Nigeria. He [Atiku] said he was going to remove it if he was elected. But because he failed, and we're in the 2027 election season, he's now saying that he's going to restore fuel subsidy… If somebody is approbating and reprobating, do not take him seriously. It's simply politics. -Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), Heineken Lokpobiri #PoliticsToday

Seun: On the 2027 election, you say Atiku is not the right man and Tinubu is not the right man. Who could be the ‘saint’ for Nigerians to run to? Babachir Lawal: I said it: that if it must be, therefore, a choice between Atiku and Bola Tinubu, I believe that Bola Tinubu's presidency, as bad as it is now on a comparative level, Bola would be an excellent President compared to what this man [Atiku] would plunge us into. #PoliticsToday

“What I want and pray for is for all opposition leaders—Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, Rotimi Amaechi, and Rauf Aregbesola—to join the SDP.” - El-Rufai. “What pains me is that the government we supported and had confidence in would do well, because we saw what Tinubu did in Lagos despite his challenges. We all know about his issues in Chicago, but we thought if he could replicate his work in Lagos for Nigeria, let's support him. However, he failed. “I never betrayed Atiku Abubakar because we didn’t meet in politics; we met at work. In work, if I see that he didn’t do well, whoever he is, I will tell him. I told Buhari, and I even took Buhari to court on the new naira issue. When Obasanjo and Atiku were having issues, those of us working with Obasanjo looked at the issues between them and said Obasanjo was more right. It was not about north and south; Obasanjo was right. Atiku and I are now together, and if I betrayed him why are we together now,” Elrufai said.

Seun: Atiku Abubakar is a no match to President Tinubu in your own books in 2027? Hannatu: I do not think, I wouldn’t say he is a match but he is a formidable opponent but, even though I admire him as a great patriot, I do not think he is a match. Seun: Even if Atiku and Peter Obi come together on a ticket? Hannatu: Watch the last part attentively Me: The only ticket APC dread most is Atiku/Obi ticket.

Atiku is the one that introduced us to Peter Obi! Yes he is a Christian and we will vote him. Kwankwanso is also working with him. Why should we vote APC? Are you not tired of the hardship? There is no difference between Atiku & Tinubu.
