Truly a wild radar loop tonight in northern parts of the #DFW metroplex. A nocturnal, monster supercell with numerous tornado touchdowns. Brutal. Hoping all are okay after this scary night. #txwx #dfwwx

Here's a look at a radar loop of the supercell that produced the tornado in Somerset and London. The storm started just a showers in northwest Arkansas earlier Friday afternoon. #kywx

🌪️ May 28, 2019. I think about this day often each spring. A mile-wide EF-4 tornado, with estimated peak winds of 170 mph, cut a 32-mile path across Douglas and Leavenworth counties in Kansas. We tracked this mostly rain-wrapped violent tornado from a safe distance along K-10 in StormTracker9 as it approached the western side of the Kansas City metro. The tornado dissipated near Bonner Springs, KS, but the parent supercell thunderstorm cycled and produced a separate EF-2 tornado near Kearney, MO. Miraculously, there were no fatalities, but 18 people were injured, and numerous homes and businesses were heavily damaged or destroyed. What do you remember from this day?

The Kankakee Supercell is one of the most unbelievable Storms I’ve seen in a long time. This Supercell was an absolute MONSTER. It ⬇️ • Maintained a Mesocyclone for OVER 7 HOURS • Triggered 7 PDS Tornado Warnings • Produced the FIRST Tornado Emergency of the year This thing was a Tornado producing machine for HOURs. God, please be with the people affected by this Storm. Please give them your abundant LOVE 🙏

BREAKING: Tornado just occurred in Hammond, Louisiana, a few minutes ago. This was not tornado-warned, but was severe-warned for damaging winds. A couplet quickly appeared on radar as storms converged, then led to a weak and brief tornado near the Walmart Supercenter on the west side of town. Damage is unknown, but many residents are reporting power outages throughout town. Thank you to Randall for sending this in!

🌪️ Drone footage of a possible tornado last night near Midtown in Kansas City. The multiple bright green flashes seen coming from the ground were electrical arcs from power lines. Powerful winds, debris hurled into the wires, or damage to utility poles and lines can send bright bursts of green and blue into the night sky, illuminating the storm from below. A Tornado Warning was in effect at the time, and Doppler radar showed a signature consistent with at least damaging straight-line winds and possibly a tornado. 📸 Bryce Finkeldei looking south from the World War I Museum. Video from March 6, 2026 at approximately 11:40 PM.
