We urge you to take this storm seriously. Please listen to your local officials, and if you are told to evacuate, please do so immediately. Do not wait until it is too late. Already, we have sent more than 1,000 federal personnel to be on the ground in Florida to assist with preparation for this hurricane, and we will continue to scale up those efforts. This is one of the most beautiful areas in Georgia and folks here have spotted multiple American bald eagles. That is a federally protected species and DNR is currently looking for the nest. This is where I come in talking to the EPA because they need to understand exactly what is at stake! But instead of taking that seriously, these people show up with their little slideshows and their false promises. Everyone here knows the truth. There is nothing clean about hauling garbage from Atlanta, Chattanooga, or Alabama and dumping it on rural Georgia. Murray County does not want your trash. Murray County does not want your waste. And we are not going to let you destroy this land!!

We are not okay, and that’s okay to say. I wish I could tell you that we are standing here and that the rest of the world is standing with us. With you. Sadly I can’t say that. There is a loud and aggressive minority around the world who doesn’t get, that being murdered at a peace festival does not equal resistance. I do however, know that we are standing here on behalf of all those people in the world, with moral clarity. And there are a lot of them. And there are many who want to be here with you. And they are here with you at heart. On October 7th, your loved ones went to Nova. We call it a peace music festival because that’s what it was—a place to make new friends, to let loos explore and celebrate life. And this juxtaposition hurts the most —because on that day, the light your loved ones were, was met with the most unimaginable darkness. Our lives will never be the same. But today, as we remember them, we also make a promise: to honor their memory by living as they would have. As we stand here in grief, we have a message to the world: we will not be defeated. When the Army Chief warns that war is looming and that our sons and daughters may be called upon to fight, it should make every citizen stop and think. Many on social media say, “I won’t fight for them.” But this isn’t about politicians, parties, or provocation. This is about our country. This is about our land, our people, our future. I am a Sikh, from a warrior community with a long history of standing against tyranny. We are taught to serve and protect our land, to defend the innocent, and to stand firm when others step back. If my country is threatened, I will stand. If it comes to it, my children and I will defend our nation, because a country that refuses to defend itself ceases to exist. You can oppose governments. You can criticise leaders. But when the nation itself is under threat, walking away is not protest, it’s surrender. Defending your country does not make you a warmonger. It makes you responsible. Without our land, we will be slaves. I am not a traitor. I will not turn my back when my country needs defending. Are you?
