Huge name to look for this summer in the 2026 MLB Draft is Drew Horn RHP Middle Tennessee State University. Horn has an electric fastball up to 98.4 avg 19Vb, 9Hb and 2500-2700 rpms, he pairs that with a CH at 86-89 2100-2200 avg: 10vb, 18hb / SL- 86 av, 90 t, 2750-2950 avg: 4vb, -4hb / CV- 80 av, 83 t, 2950-3200 : 3300t avg: -3vb, -15hb. INF Kodey Shojinaga (Kansas Baseball) is an intriguing Sophomore-eligible prospect. Was outstanding as a true Freshman and hit .378/.421/.526 with 11 2B, 6 HR, and 32 RBIs. Also slashed .326/.396/.349 across 11 games on the Cape. Shojinaga was named Co-Freshman of the Year in the Big 12 and earned a Team USA invitation. Medium build at 5'10", 190-lbs with some physicality in the lower-half. Slightly open front side in the box with a normal handset. Holds bat horizontally over his back shoulder with the barrel pointed slightly back. Medium-high leg kick, but the stride itself is small. Little bit of a bat wrap, but he's consistently on time. Average bat speed. Hit over power profile right now, but Shojinaga has an advanced feel for the barrel and plus bat-to-ball skills. Last season, he sported a 93% overall IZ contact rate. Approach is sound, but sometimes chases down/away. Does a nice job of using the whole field and working inside the baseball. Would put a 55 on the pure hit tool. Sound defender at 2B with above average arm strength and makes the plays he needs to make. He has quick hands and some range in either direction. Shojinaga also has experience catching, and got some reps behind the plate this summer for Team USA. Will be interesting to see what it would look like if he focused on catching - actions need refining, but the arm strength is there. Shojinaga will need to really hit, and he's capable of doing so. This July, he profiles as a 5th-8th round pick.

Collin Bland’s (Collin Bland) BP is must watch. Just pokes balls out all over the field. Lives through the middle consistently with the ball coming off the bat with effortless force. Broke the Prep Baseball Super 60 average exit velocity record back in February, while coming in 2nd overall in max exit velocity ever for the event. Batting .415 with a .652 OBP, and a 1.384 OPS on the season. Also has an absurd 41 BB to just 7 K’s. Must watch talent at the state tournament this week in Murfreesboro #TNHS26 // Shooter Hunt

3B Kevin Bazzell (Texas Tech Baseball) is sneaky one of the best pure hitters in this year's Draft class. In his first full collegiate season, he slashed .348/.453/.572 with 24 2B, 10 HR, 62 RBI, and more BB (45) than K (32). Tied the program record for most doubles in a season and was named First Team All-Big 12. Extremely simple setup in the box with a minimal stride and slight barrel tip. No wasted movement, takes a direct path to the baseball. Does an excellent job of consistently staying inside the ball. Level swing, barrel is in the hitting zone for a while. Hit over power profile, but the hit tool is a strong 60 with above average power to the pull side. Has an advanced approach along with plus bat-to-ball skills and plus feel for the barrel. Last season he worked a 92% overall IZ contact rate, including an absurd 96% IZ contact rate against FB. Converted catcher, can pick it over at 3B and continues to get better with time. Has a plus arm and has shown comfortability attacking the baseball. Hard worker who keeps his head down and is a darn good player. Potential top-2 round pick this July.

.Atascocita Baseball's Ty Higginbotham is the straw that stirs the drink for the Eagles. As a junior last season, Higginbotham went 11-2 with a sparkling 1.41 ERA. And this year, he's picked up right where he left off, throwing a 6-inning no-hitter against Ridge Point to help send the Eagles to the regional semifinals. He's also a dangerous two-way player at the plate. He's capable of driving the ball all over the field with power. Higginbotham is headed to play for LSUE Baseball next year and is our Parker University MVP.

Grant Knipp has been showing off his versatility this week at the MLB Draft Combine 💯 He started off Day 2 of the combine hitting a ball 111.5 mph and 400+ feet👀 He wrapped up the day hitting 97.2 mph from the mound with a Fastball that also features over 20 inches of induced vertical break. This college season with Campbell Baseball, Grant Knipp hit .400 and slugged 1.200 vs Fastballs. That SLG is the best for D1 hitters (min. 200 FBs seen)🔥

Arizona State INF Nu'u Contrades has one of the most underrated pure hit tools in this 2026 class. The redshirt junior slashed .366/.434/.762 with 21 HRs and 15 2Bs this season while posting an insanely low 12% K%. The bat to ball skills have always been off the charts but this year he was able to show a real power tool that he had not shown before. A little undersized at 5'10 195, Contrades is also a very aggressive hitter posting way above average swing rates and chase rates. However his elite bat to ball skills have helped him not get in too much trouble with it. He has played some 2B and 3B at Arizona State but settled in mainly at 2B being an average defender over there. Contrades is a fun player with a very good hit tool to look at down the board, and could be a huge steal for a team.

Been thinking a lot about this… if this progression was adopted across all recreational baseball we’d be creating more baseball lovers. Ages 4 and under: no baseball game play. Only practice/fun stuff if anything at all. I believe we are pushing kids away from the game exposing them too early. Ages 5-7: Tee ball. Asking kids to hit a moving baseball at this time isn’t necessary. Let’s solve for action and reps. ELIMINATE RECREATIONAL COACH PITCH! Coach pitch can only be executed properly with professional coaches who throw consistent strikes understand how to deliver reps. IT DOES NOT WORK AT SCALE WITH REC. I’ve seen enough to feel strongly about this. Ages 8-9: Machine Pitch. If someone would invent a pitching machine with an arm that was mobile they’d make a lot of money. I know about the slingshot and I think it’s a good start but not quite it. Ages 10-12: Kid pitch. No earlier. Practice pitching/throwing in practice starting at age 8. Just finishing up my third year as a head coach within Little League but I’m also coming off of 16 years of running a massive youth baseball organization in Northern California so I have seen enough to confidently make these conclusions.
