Its a sliding scale, the more talented or better measurables you have the less those other things matter. There are a ton of schools that offers kids without even seeing any film because Bama did. Fake recruits have gotten offers without even having film lol

RECRUITING AND MARKETING College roster spots are in demand and players need to not only produce but find ways to stand out. Players, parents, and coaches marketing to college teams a necessary (highlight film, networking, etc) The biggest thing you want to avoid is overhyping the player in the marketing. College coaches are going to do their research, watch full games, talk to people and eventually will figure out who you actually are as a player - whether that’s in the recruiting process or when you get to campus. I’ve always been more concerned with the Accounting - can the player actually play, what do they need to work on to produce more for their team now, and also to have a chance at the next level… the accounting always tells the truth, marketing can lie.

At Boise State went 92-12 & was 2x coach of the year (as many as times as nick Saban) Turned Boise State into a national power beat Oklahoma, OSU, VT, UGA, TCU, and many more! Ole Miss head coach Pete Golding in response to a question about the tampering allegations they’ve faced: “We’re going to recruit really good players, that’s both in the high school market and in the portal market, and we’ll to continue to do it how we’ve done it.” When asked about tampering again, he later said, “let’s not act like recruiting in College Football for the last 100 years is the most moral thing.”
