Austin Ainge on the Walker Kessler trade: “ We really valued Walker. Walker's a good player. We were planning on keeping him. But that offer got high enough that we thought it was the right move to make for the Jazz for building a championship team."

Kessler + JJJ would have been one of the best defensive frontcourts in the league and 100% closer to a chip than Nurkic/Hayes and 2 firsts lol

Seems to me both sides got what they wanted, draft picks often don’t materialize, the Lakers needed a young defensive minded center, the Jazz wanted compensation, both got what they wanted. Who won the negotiations? We’ll have to see what each team does with what they got

Zach Lowe says the Lakers are TRAPPED after the Walker Kessler trade and may be forced to trade Austin Reaves “There’s no question that they overpaid for him [Walker Kessler] and are now trapped with this team and have to figure out: either this is the team or is there a way to pivot by trading Austin Reaves down the line or something like that. They are out of tradeable assets because of the Walker Kessler deal.”

Dwyane Wade speaks on how much the 2006 Heat team would party during the season 💀 “We were out in them streets. We were hanging, we were partying. We had guys coming in 6,7 in the morning. We was living in Miami! The same thing the visitors were doing, that’s what guys on our team was doing… Shaq had to be like ‘Riles can you push practice back?’ It wasn’t a team that was so strict. If you come into the year and say these are the things your supposed to do to win a championship, we didn’t do that away from the court. That wasn’t a team I looked at like ‘oh yeah, we gonna win.’ We just so happened to start clicking at the right time… We were building our relationship like ‘to the windowwww, to the wall!’ We were hanging… Miami was on fire. We turned Miami into a whole different culture once we started winning. We were the first set of the Heatles. We had to manage guys enjoying that but also get work done on the court… it seemed like a unserious group away from the game but We had guys they knew how to turn it on, and I got really good” (Via Zach Lowe / DWade)

Joe Lacob on the balance of keeping future draft picks versus using them in a trade now: "Well, it's like anything. It's like any other trade. We have to make a good trade. We have to make a trade that makes sense . . . without talking a little bit too much more than I should about secret dealings that went on in the offseason, we made at least 2 very big offers in the last 6 months, let's put it that way. Between the trade deadline and the summer, at least 2, that were multiple draft choices. So it's not like we wouldn't move them if we thought it was the right thing to do. We moved 1 for Jimmy when we got him then. I can tell you there are offers that we did make were more than 2. They were a significant amount of draft capital. They didn't work out. The cost was too high to be justifiable or we weren't selected. I mean these things happen. I've told you guys. I've told all our fans from day one, we're always going to go after pretty much anybody who's a good player and check it out, check out the situation at all times. We want to be as good as we can be this year. We're trying to be the best thing we can do. We're trying to win an NBA championship. I think obviously we have a ways to go to do that, but we're coming off some big injuries. But the point is, we're always trying to be the best team we can be and we're very aggressive about doing these things. Sometimes they happen and sometimes they don't."

Brian Cashman is asked how aggressively the Yankees pursued a shortstop on the trade market: "We tried to evaluate all opportunities on the marketplace...with that being said, I don't think there were lots of opportunities that existed that were upgrades for us. We like the players that we have, and we like the players that we have on the come. Did we look to upgrade, engage on infield opportunities?...there was nothing we were able to find there. It was going to be a high bar. We do think that we have the players, overall, that can compete for a championship. We're happy that we were able to bring in Ramos and Garcia to solve some of the problems. We're looking forward now to getting the other guys back from the IL, to fortify and finish this off super-charged."

So whatever we got, doing it with our best is like a basic to us. 🐶: I saw a LUNÉ say, "I have a theory." They thought that whoever was standing on the far right in our photos would be the one doing the opening. Fuma said he had seen that theory too. At first, it was actually just a coincidence that it kept happening. But once we realized a LUNÉ was really manifesting that theory, we thought, "Why not just play along?" So we intentionally had the member doing the opening stand on the far right in the photos to make it look like the theory was true. But when we took the photo during our Hong Kong rehearsal, I decided not to stand on the far right just to see how everyone would react. So congratulations to that one LUNÉ... or actually, not really, because your theory was wrong. We were just making it seem like you were right. 😂

SGA on Knicks: "Very high-level team…9 in a row…offseason additions…they're where they are in the league for a reason. They had the better of us most of the night but we stuck with it…Really showed who we were. Really good game, really good test for us, & we passed the test"

Gui Santos on if it matters if he starts or comes off the bench: "For me, it doesn't really make any difference if you start a game or just start on the bench because by the end of the day, if you help your team to win, that's what really matters. So for me, that's a good thing. Now we got Yax, a big forward, a guy that can help us a lot and he's ready to help right now. We know he was playing in Michigan last year. He won a championship last year. He came for the Summer League, we won the Summer League championship. I'm just happy to have more guys that can help us, like Georges. We got Georges. We got B. Will, a guy really good too, that can help us. So for me, about the expectations, or just starting the game or don't start the game, for me it's not going to change nothing. As soon as Steve calls my name and I step on the court, I will bring the best that I can."

Was trading for Tarik Skubal a possibility for the Yankees? "They set a high price, and we were unable to get them off of what they said might work. At the same time, they were communicating that it also might not even win the day. They went silent after they got what they were looking for, and then they made that decision. We feel like we didn't really match up in the end. We weren't able to compete at that level. But they did have some asks our way that we were unwilling to do - it was a very specific ask, a certain player/players that we weren't willing to play with in that arena."

Shams on the Jaylen Brown trade: "Sixers president reached out to the Celtics made offers in recent weeks...the Celtics had such a high bar on a deal. They were thinking if you're gonna trade us Paul George we need 4 firsts, 5 firsts, we need a player like a VJ Edgecombe. That was the bar that was set early. There were other teams around the league that might of stopped conversations or moved on to do other deals but the Sixers stayed with it...they stuck around and at the end of it, they were the last team standing today"

ABDESLAM OUADDOU We planned thoroughly for Mamelodi Sundowns We observed that Teboho Mokoena tends to a lot of free space. When he has the ball, he ignites their attack We got a bit aggressive on them. We put a player [Nduli] to mark him closely. We neutralized him We also know that they are weak on the wings We capitalized on that It worked.
