Swimmer Owen O’Keefe swam from Baltimore to Mizen Head in just under 11 hours, marking the first successful completion of the route. Owen O'Keefe (33), who works as an ecologist and is based in Fermoy, started his 39km swim at Baltimore Harbour. He continued south of Sherkin Island and Cape Clear via the Fastnet Lighthouse to the Mizen peninsula, marking the first successful completion of the route. A Swiss man is currently trying to break the record for longest continuous swim in a wetsuit by swimming 112 miles (180km) from Calvi, France to Monaco. The man, Noam Yaron, says he will be swimming for 5 days and 5 nights non stop. Yaron claims he “can sleep while swimming” by using hypnosis to shut off part of his brain.
