Great trip; I've done it both ways as a child and an adult. The Ghan is also terrific.

I caught that train many times when I was growing up. Years later I was unfortunate enough to catch the V line between Adelaide and Melbourne, thinking it would be the same standard. Needless to say it was not.

Pure Australian Kitsch. This is one of the best ever! The Mutton Chops, loud ties, mini dresses and the steel Swan tinnies. And being a WA native this is even more of a gem. Love it 😍 (now where is the Sandgroper emoji when you need one)

You know damn right the last carriage is just a beer fridge and when you caught the connecting bus, one of the hostesses would run over with a couple of cold ones for the bus driver to take the edge off on a hot day.
