Avatar: Fire and Ash (subtle commentary)
Комментарии: 31

Mate we all saw your Pink Floyd thing. Idk how you can talk about subtly or bravery.

Doug, I’mma be honest, with how completely lacking in subtext reality is, I’m not sure how you’re still banging this postmodern “everything has to be subtle to be good” drum.

Remember in The Lorax when the Onceler asked what the Lorax wanted the workers to do as they needed jobs to provide for their families as well and the Lorax was like, yeah, fair point, I dunno. The Terminator guy got beaten in writing nuance by the rhyming picture book guy.

Doug this is why have been people clowning on you for the past 15 years. You watch a biblical epic about imperialism, genocide, and environmental/ecological decimation and all you can muster is “duh nature good humanity bad” you are an adult man, act like one

Counterpoint:

Oh, you forgot one thing Sully gave the natives the concept of fascism. So fascism is good when it’s blue people but fascism is bad when it’s humans

Doug is a good actor because I genuinely couldn't tell if he was being sarcastic or not.

Avatar fans when they watch Mickey Mouse Saves the Environment (its deep and has complex themes)

What is there not ot understand about this obvious messaging in the movie? Clearly its not subtle enough when people come out of the movies thinking humanity are the good guys and has every right to genocide, colonize, and exploit Pandora.

Haven't seen F&A nor do I plan to, but I knew from the trailers that it would just be the same exact movie again

Here's the plot summary of fire and ash: "Water. Earth. Fire. Air. Long ago the four nations lived in harmony. Then everything changed when the fire nation attacked.

I don't know what people see in these movies that makes them defend them so hard I feel like it's because James Cameron made them

If I had to spend more than 30 seconds around this man I would jump off a building

Dude I loved Avatar 1 and 2. Idgaf if it’s dance with wolves, it’s not like that storyline didn’t happen across the americas. And the greedy corpos destroying nature is real thing, look at the Mayan Train for example. A3 however I did not like and I am quite sad about it.

When people make video essays about you, a person I had never watched a single second of outside of those essays, I used to think “he can’t be that bad.” Then I see clips like this and think “oh, they haven’t gone far enough.” Actual 12 year old commentary.

How are you a fan of the other Avatar story yet somehow still thinks being unsubtle means being bad?

So the Same Message as the Other Two Films.

Hey Doug I know that you exactly don't like the Avatar movies & yes the animated show is much better. However I don't get your anger like this was the first one that actually did do different things more than the second one

Avatar fans are so weird because you'll never meet one in the real world but somehow these movies make a billion dollars.

... so you didn't saw the movie ? The movie talks WAY MORE about hate, loss, grief and the need of repairing and continue life after terrible drama more than nature. Even the second movie talk about familly and the need to let our childrens teach us stuff sometime.

Avatar is just Fern Gully with giant Smurfs with guns and ponytail genitalia

The most imbecile man alive

NC let tell you something important SUBTLETY DOES NOT WORK ANYMORE

So you went opening weekend so you could record a video you could have made any time over the last 15 years about the first two films? Huh.

Would you look at that. This guy’s still alive. Hmph.

It's more complex than that and anyone with an IQ above room temperature knows. The thing is everyone's minds are occupied by so much other stuff going on in the world, their feeble brains are just forced to consolidate because they don't have the mental capacity to contemplate.

I still find myself kinda siding with the bad guys of the movies. Mostly because they seem to be the ones actively trying to push the story along.

The commentary is poor, but I think it was disingenuous for Doug to assert that was all that was there.

What, you're not gonna thank Mr. Cameron for the privilege of visiting Pandora for another three hours?

Nostalgic critic doesn’t like anything that’s new. All he does is yap

Thank you Doug. For summarizing what people have said about the movies since the beginning of the Avatar franchise.
