#WATCH | Mumbai: On Indigo flight delays, President, Federation of Indian Pilots, Captain CS Randhawa says, "Indigo operates approximately 2,200 flights all over India... Most of these flight disruptions, cancellations, and delays have been attributable to, firstly, the crew shortage... Secondly, they have been inducting aircraft. It must be appreciated that when you induct an aircraft, you must have an adequate number of crews per aircraft... Thirdly, Indigo pilots were flying about 55 to 57 hours. After 1st November, they offered pilots the option to buy back their leave... The crew rostering of the pilots was totally inappropriate. They did not plan the crews correctly... Lastly, after the second phase of the FDTL (Flight Duty Time Limitation), new CARs (Civil Aviation Requirements) came into effect by the order of the Delhi High Court on 1st of November. They immediately approached the DGCA (Directorate General of Civil Aviation) and sought a variation. We have asked the DGCA how the variation or dispensation was given to Indigo and other airlines, as this CAR had to be implemented... I request the DGCA and the Ministry of Civil Aviation not to grant such dispensations and variations, and to implement the CAR in totality... There are a lot of remedial measures which Indigo has to take..."

WHAT HAPPENED AT THE AIRPORT TODAY? Because of IndiGo mismanagement, 15-20 passengers including me missed their flights to Bombay, Ahmedabad and Patna. When the passengers went to the grievance counter, we were told there’s no refund for missed flights. Missed? Their management failed us, passengers could not board their flights because of their mismanagement. Instead of owning up, the airline is convincing passengers to pay ₹17,000 to 20,000 extra for the next flight and saying “Air India mein try karlo” Is this their idea of accountability? Is this how they treat people’s hard-earned money? This duopoly in Indian aviation deserves serious scrutiny. DGCA #IndiGo #AirlineFail #AviationCrisis #IndiGo #AirlineFail

Air India flight AI314.. was supposed to take off at 10:20pm, boarding ended at 9:50pm! The crew & captain have been talking of technical issues in some software, the AC units aren’t working, and they aren’t allowing us to deboard! No updates either! We have been made hostages on the flight! Isn’t there a rule against it, especially since there are high BP patients & infants on this flight in the midst of Delhi heat minus air conditioning! Airbus has consequently identified a significant number of A320 Family aircraft currently in service which may be impacted. Airbus has worked proactively with the aviation authorities to request immediate precautionary action from operators via an Alert Operators Transmission (AOT) in order to implement the available software and/or hardware protection, and ensure the fleet is safe to fly. Management should have taken proactive steps because the government policy didn't come about in 24 hours. It was deliberate for years. Then a year ago, the policy was finalised... Other operators, like Air India and SpiceJet, have prepared for this situation. They have planned for it, and we don't see those kinds of problems with any other operator... Indigo is not a startup anymore... But one of the things which perplexes me is the timing. The government policy started on 1st November 2025, and we are suddenly facing this rampage after one month... A lot of people are saying it is deliberate to push the government to revert to the old policy because the new policy has certain cost implications besides major induction... In the meantime, either Indigo has to reduce operations or go for a crash induction program. But even with that, even if you can get trained, qualified manpower, you still need almost a year, a year and a half, to induct and train them into your fleet. It's not that you shift from one car to another. Even if you are qualified in the same aircraft, you take time to familiarise yourself, get regulatory approvals and other things."

Our efforts now are focused entirely on the needs of our passengers, crew members, their families and loved ones. I know there are many questions and I will not be able to answer all of them....The aircraft was carrying 230 passengers and 12 crew members onboard. Of the passengers, 169 are Indian nationals, 53 are British nationals, 1 Canadian national and 7 Portuguese nationals. We are working with the authorities on all emergency response efforts.
